Mar 29th 2009 9:06PM i totally agree with the article... i think ulduar will be kind of a game over check for wow for alot of people. yes, newcomers and people who take it very slow will still keep playing and those people will probably still be more then any other MMO has. the game also wont be less fun for those people and im sure the way the game is made is probably even better for those people then vanilla wow or even bc was.

for myself its easy tho.. im not going to raid naxx another 3 months. so unless ulduar kicks total ass and has some kind of a challenge/reward system that makes it appealing until the next instance hits, im out of here... blizzard has proven so many times that they can do it and i doubt they dont see this problem so maybe ulduar will work or maybe the next instance is not that far away.

as for the other commenters i totally agree that there is not enough content and i absolutely enjoyed the times when you had to work had to finally see an encounter and then learn it instead of seeing and learning it in a 10 man pug and then trying it with a guild raid if you want. sorry, but you need to be really hardcore casual to not have farmed naxx by now and i cant believe thats really the players blizzard wants to focus their game on... they need us. a crowd of people that reads various websites like this one every few hours because we are hungry for news on our (most likely) favourite game and (probably) biggest hobby. we are the ones driving this game forward, because we actually put the effort in to beat those bosses by getting every bit out of the game and that still needs to be rewarded, but i doubt a different colored mount or the 50th title will do the job much longer... again, i trust in blizzard usually so maybe they have something up their sleeve already, but it better be awesome ;)

Jan 16th 2009 10:23AM yes and this is exactly the point. the shammy will NOT loose his spot to a pure dps class. he might be forced to respec but he will still raid, have fun and earn dkp/loot whatever. the pure dps class just cant respec to anything else to fill any other slot so its not equal unless they do dps better then a hybrid. is it so hard to understand? while i wrote it someone made the same exact mistake a few posts up higher so i will try so explain it again. hybrids = chance on dps + heal + tank slot. dps = dps slot. unless the dps class has some higher chance on getting into the dps slot over a hybrid (which is currently not the case if you take out gear/skill/buffs etc) there is a 50% chance on the only slot he can fill while the hybrid has the same chance if not even higher on all of his 3 slots he can fill. etc etc.

Jan 16th 2009 10:05AM having read through the comments and the article i just fail to really see the point how this will logically benefit pure classes in terms of raid spots and viability. theres alot of "pure dps classes wont loose their spots because you still need dps" talk which is of course true, but if there is no difference then its a 50/50 chance of getting a spot against some class that can spec something else. now someone commented "if your that concerned just spec a healer". this is excactly the big failtrain. you can do that with the press of a button and get the healer/tanking spots on top of the 50/50 chance of a raid spot. try out some math and you will see that overall you will always have better chances of getting into raids.

this doesnt mean im against the feature or that im overly concerned. the good part about beeing a pure dps class is that im only spending my dkp on one kind of items while other classes have to make up their mind if they wanna waste it on stuff they might not even use. the outcome is that i will always be better geared then the hybrid that plays the same amount as me. in a perfect world where everyone has perfect gear this is of course somewhat different and then i fail to see why pure dps classes shouldnt just do a notch more dps then the rest.

most positive comments come from hybrid players and i totally understand it. i myself can totally live with a quick respec to pvp or maybe some farming build and yes even i have to make a decision which one i will be using on my second slot. just like any hybrid has to choose if he wants to be a boomkin/pvp cat whatever strange hybrid or a healer/tank/dps whatever combo. however i can understand any pure dps class that is concerned a bit.

Dec 10th 2008 9:26AM yea i think the whole QQ would have been just as big if blizzard would have posted the whole "diplomatic" wall of text instead of the pure facts. maybe it would have gone down a bit smoother but in the end it would have come out just as angry ;)

however in my opinion the whole problem is something else. its something that blizzard is obviously doing and im not sure if it is the right approach for all of us. all this pve, pvp, solo grinding, aoe stuff is getting evened out way to much. what happend to class diversity? i was totally fine when mages and warlocks wrecked the dps meter in aoe situations. i was also fine when paladin tanks were the better choice for mount hyal for example.. thats just how different classes work. nowadays even rogues have aoe so they can keep up and be usefull in those situations.. furthermore they are even getting the cooldown on it removed.. hell no, they dont need aoe. just give them kick ass single target damage and maybe some dungeon/class design that makes this even more viable in raids.

this would even work if there wasnt the second factor.. PVP. every god damn change they make in the pve world has to get balanced out in pvp aswell, since they opened the door to millions of people who enjoy that content and now they need to please them aswell. this is just not making the game more fun for everyone, its a way of selling it to the most people becuase now i can choose every class and basically do everything like everyone else.. maybe we should just remove all the classes and let us switch between healer, super dps and aoe tank with one button press.. oh wait, some classes are almost there anyways.

i know this is a bit offtopic, but since this is a very thoughtfull article and this has been on my mind for a while now i thought i would share it here..
