Jan 29th 2009 4:13PM This one took a while, but it was worth it. My friend had stepped out of the room during a LAN back in the day, so I jumped on his computer and opened the 'assign hotkeys' interface.
In attempts to pull the most confusing prank, I began by creating six macros - each assigned to shortcuts on the hotbar. I believe he was a mage, so naturally each macro icon was AI, sheep, frostbolt, etc.
These macros replaced the 1-6 shortcuts on the general hotbar. But pressing 1-6 no longer activated those spells, as each macro had been assigned one of the standard movement keys as a shortcut. (qwe;asd)
Now for the fun part. Each macro appeared to cast a skill, so it followed that upon his return, my friend would just run around and begin to spam frostbolt. Little did he know these macros had hidden chat features.
Sheep? no. why don't you type "/1 I used to wet my pants after watching Terminator" instead.
Nova-blink-pyro combo? Nah, how about a "/y THERE'S A TORNADO IN MY BATHROOM"-"/g Where can I find an ingame abortion clinic?"-"/1 is recruiting! Free runthroughs to get you started, open-access gb for enchanting mats, and officer ranks for all!" combo?
He was confused, but no real harm done. At least not for too long.
I probably got more of a kick out of my craftiness than any lasting effect could offer... It's pretty harmless and can be undone with the click of a 'reset to default' button, but the options are nearly limitless.
Same formula - change the /chat texts, and one could effectively convince (-albeit temporarily) the victim's guild or all the major cities that s/he's a rambling idiot, bigot, police chief, psychopath, or just plain crazy.
Jan 29th 2009 1:43PM Not really too terrible, that's just a really harsh way to say "RTFM!"
Dec 2nd 2008 1:36PM Compassion is not necessarily a search to understand the mental process; rather, it is the acknowledgment that such cannot be known.
Then a person is observed as a product of their trials, and a sense of respect arises from the mysteries they have endured.
Nov 20th 2008 9:26AM I'll be taking my DK down to Elwynn to begin some herbalism too. Which guide do you use?
Nov 18th 2008 4:51PM Digital representations of value... shape cognitive content into "goals" much faster and subtly than real life responsibilities and dreams.
"Achievements" in the game are more easily attainable as well!
Curse our neural reward-center! (it's stronger in males - hence the urge to stare at ...chests) Yeah. Treasure chests.
Then again, if everyone knew that, who'd pay the subscriptions?
Nov 18th 2008 12:02PM If you like metal, Amon Amarth, Forefather, Wintersun, Ensiferum, Mithotyn and Windir will make the Northrend experience tr00.
-and faster (as if you're in battle)
Nov 17th 2008 4:56PM Oh man, that mistranslation is great. It's pretty hilarious how meaning changes around. I can hear that Unreal Tournament voice that says "Rampage" saying the kid has been "eliminated".
Google Translate is near-endless entertainment, especially at work (with web blockers). Try translating - anything - from English to Portuguese to Norwegian to Japanese to Vietnamese to Korean to Latvian and then back to English.
It's like playing Telephone with people who spent two weeks learning their neighbor's language. Oh linguistics, how fickle you are.
Here's an example from our friends right here; taken from the newest post: http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/11/17/ask-wow-insider-nodes-and-ninjas/
Large: nodes and ninja

Occasionally, some 10 people, "Comics is waiting around. I, or they arrive First, I do not know. Man, the first time in recent / s or more," Can I join the group? Yes, I am active in any way to be together all the time, he no longer line of people that the system does not recognize, and I do not know what to do, said. I wonder?

Nov 13th 2008 2:55PM WTS 6-month cooldowns
Nov 13th 2008 2:08PM That's insane. The amount of time spent in preparation for that character to level with such ease was probably upwards of a month.
This game is an aspect OF life. Not an alternative TO it.
