Jan 21st 2009 8:36AM I quit playing the game early last night after our 25-man Naxx was canceled due to the extreme lag. To give you an idea of how bad the lag was, we hit the enrage timer on Anub'Rekan and wiped. This whole situation is just pitiful.
If Naxx wasn't lagging horribly, Northrend was crashing about every 20 minutes.
Nov 20th 2008 9:34AM I agree with Blondy's post. General chat has unfortunately become a cesspool where the lazy, annoying, and immature reside, seemingly bent on drowning out the legitimate cries for assistance with inane comments about "which spec is better" (with no context given to answer the question) or "why this class is OP", just to give a couple of examples.
I don't log into WoW to peruse the General/Trade chat channels. I log in to have some gaming fun with my wife and my guild mates, nearly all of them being my RL friends. Does this mean I have a problem helping others? Of course not; I'm not some anti-social emo kid living in my mom's basement listening to death metal and hating the world. If you need help, I don't mind being whispered directly as that usually means you are nearby and can make a better personal connection as opposed to randomly throwing a dart into General/Trade chat and hoping it sticks.
Obviously not everyone is going to have a guild, prior experience, or knowledgeable friends to assist them, and that's unfortunate. However, this is a game and not something of great importance, so I choose to remove myself from a channel which I consider a mental distraction with little redeeming value, gathered over years of playing WoW . Perhaps this is a personal failing for me, or perhaps I deal with enough crap during a given day to not want to subject myself to it further in my leisure time. It's open for debate.
Self sufficiency is very important to me and I encourage others to research before taking the easy way out. Even if you aren't familiar with resources such as WoWHead, you can still do random Google searches and happen upon useful information.
