Nov 16th 2009 8:32AM Another example of player housing from an MMO you may or may not have heard of - 'Tibia'. This game, while being in glorified 2D has, in my opinion, good game play. Unlike in WoW, you can actually put your equipment on the ground, making it possible for it to be picked up by others, moved around and so on.
This brings me to the player housing. The houses in Tibia were auctioned off on the games website. The auction time was a week, and you would pay your bid + one months rent; subsiquent months rent would come out of the city bank your house was in etc etc. People decorated their houses, putting equipment around the house - effectively showing off what they had. I can remember seeing people crowding round the high level, rich players house - drooling over all the stuff he owned.
The problem of course with this system is that you need actual space within the game to hold the housing. I noticed that on my server in Tibia (a couple of years ago anyway), that most of the houses where rented in most cities. However, in cities that are out of your way, or had bad 'hunting' areas nearby, or just weren't accessible are completley deserted. You would end up with entire cities becomming like ghost towns. To top it off, if you invited someone into your house, they could steal everything you had on show.
Putting Tibia's houses in to the context of WoW, would be like showing off some kind of trophy or something, and people would have the ability to look through the window - seems pointless?
I think the point is nobody has nailed player housing yet - and you really wonder if anyone ever will. Getting the balance between accessability, practicality and well... getting people to use it is very, very difficult. As nice as it would be to see Stormwind made into a proper city size, with lots of houses everywhere in the short term; long term, it would end up a ghost town within a city.

Apr 9th 2009 6:19PM For some reason Vimeo (I think it was Vimeo anyway) have closed the video and I have no idea why...
I have re-uploaded the video on my own vimeo account as the old one was uploaded on our Guild website administrator's account so he could post in on our website. Lets hope this one isn't deleted?
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.
Apr 9th 2009 4:02PM I actually can't believe my video was shown! Thank you Michael and WoWInsider, you really made mine and the guilds day!
Mar 25th 2009 9:25AM Beyond Godlike on Kazzak EU are looking to expand their raiding team a little more as they prepare for Ulduar. They have cleared all current content, including Sartharion 3Drakes 10 and 25 man. Currently they are looking for a Shadow Priest and a Hunter to join their ranks. However, if you think you can offer something to the guild, any class will be considered. Apply on their website or message an Officer for a private application.
Jan 14th 2009 5:35AM Beyond Godlike of the EU Kazzak server has just started up again after disbanding just before WotLK. They have cleared Naxxramas and Obsidian Sanctum on the first full guild run and are making fantastic progress towards Malygos, but are still recruiting some classes to ensure raids. Visit www.beyond-godlike.com to make an application!
Dec 16th 2008 12:46PM Seriously, all the people complaining about the grammar etc. If your so perfect go make your own WoW blog site or don't read this one.
It's sad that people get so worked over nothing...
