Rent seeking (or lack thereof) in WoW {WoW}

Nov 16th 2009 4:03AM I dont think this would be overly worthwhile. Gold is the base currency and most small purchases work by that amount.

If we had another object lets say Titanium that was worth 100g then things would start becoming prices like 50 titanium instead 5000 gold. 5000 is a number we are very happy to work with.

Lets looks at if we only had silver however it would be worth 5000000 silver. this is a number that our brain starts to find difficult to quickly understand the value of.

If the economy explands and in a few expansions time we are looking at epics going for 5045132 gold on the auction house and we are all making 124 gold per daily hand in then yes. But for the most part I dont think the addition of a high nomination would really be worthwhile.

Also think about it in real world terms most currencies have a 2 tier system (pounds and pence), (euro and cent), (Dollar and cent). Wow has a 3 tier system...... 4 would be starting to get silly.

Rent seeking (or lack thereof) in WoW {WoW}

Nov 15th 2009 10:49PM I thought this post was interesting to be honest. I find the ecobomy of wow interesting and true while it has certain parts that do not let it directly mirror real life (gold sellers and things like selling tcg codes not withstanding) it is a great look at a world economy.

Anyway basically what im saying is if you dont find this sort of post interesting... dont read it.. and if you dont understand long prose... dont read it either but dont complain about something that many will find interesting.

Breakfast Topic: Missing Professions? {WoW}

Jul 17th 2009 11:07AM I lvoe the idea of an archaelogy profession thats really cool :)

How about embroidery that could ley you do other things to stats on armour annd such to make them more customisable. For example you could delete 20 stamina and replace it with 20 intellect. Kinda like a side step to enchanting.

I also liek the tattooist idea that cooudl essentially give us 2 extra pieces of gear that would be tatoos. These would only be a piec eof crafted gear although the recipes woudl drop off bosses. and of course tattoists could have some tattooist only tattos to.

Teleporter. Like a mage but with a lot more options of where to go. Im sure you could expand this

A Teacher. This would be a harde to impliment profession but could be very cool. This would allow you to train and sell a number of select abilities from other classes and let us equip these abilities as we do glyphs now. Similar to how you have major and minor professions in guild wars. For instance my lock could also use mages's teleport, sheep and blink for instance... these would come as scrolls that would need to be studied and learnt. The teacher themselves would obviously be ablke to learn better abilities than anyone else. There would ofc be some mroe useful for pvp and other for pve.
