Feb 9th 2010 9:52AM Awesome!
Jan 18th 2010 3:08PM Yeah after reading this and the link to your proposal post I'm wondering if there was a WoW themed cake or anything. Pics if so! You don't get a week's grace period for the honeymoon either since you're still posting here! :P
Jan 18th 2010 3:01PM Should it have gone to you from the start? That's debatable. You doing more dps isn't as big an issue as you seem to think it is, but being a core member, always there, and dps the entire time when he just switched (perhaps temporarily) would factor in. Apparently it wasn't enough (and you're not as valuable as you think?) since it wasn't given to you with loot council and you lost.
Decent chance you would have been outright kicked from my guild for pulling that ultimatum crap for a piece of loot. In fact we have a couple in jokes about "former" members who got kicked/left for exactly that. Sounds like the loot rules were followed and he won. Not only that but it was a bigger upgrade for him since he had an Agi weapon. And you threw a hissy fit? You won't go far in this game with that attitude.
Oct 28th 2009 8:28PM Ooo, I totally need a new headset to go with my awesome new computer!!!
Oct 28th 2009 11:50AM Shiggs had a pretty good tip for a quick flip around, but specifically for the Yogg fight you can do a couple things to minimize/avoid damage from the lunatic gaze.
To start with don't actually face Yogg. Face at almost a 90 deg angle. You'll still be able to shoot Yogg off to the side fine but only need to turn a few degrees further to avoid the gaze.
Also if you're running boss mods there should be a timer counting down for the gaze (I forget if it's Bigwigs or DBM and it might be one you have to turn on) and you can turn just before the gaze, possibly missing out on a shot or two but preventing any sanity loss.
Oct 21st 2009 12:22PM Somewhat related to #8 if we already had 2 restro druids and 2 holy paladins I'd rather have a 3rd restro than a 3rd holy paladin.
#7 is a big issue. We needed an additional tank and a couple plate tanks just got passed all the gear that had already been taken by the previous tanks. A bear would be taking gear that's still needed.
From my take I want a kitty in our raid and we don't have have one. They synergize well and can do some amazing dps especially on some of the fights with bonuses that benefit them. But bears? I've hated bear tanks all of Wrath. They do great on single targets, but I have yet to meet a bear that can even do a reasonable job on AoE threat. And that's not an issue just from early Wrath or in 5 mans. I have the problem still on my druid alt when I try and tank, and I will rip threat off a bear in an raid aoe situation 100% guarenteed.
Sep 21st 2009 5:53PM The article doesn't mention trinkets which can have a pretty large effect also. I have always enchanted and gemmed for spellpower using mostly reds, and sp/int, sp/spi where it makes sense for socket bonuses and meta, but found stepping up to Ulduar and ToC that too often I was only making it through fights by using my Hymn and Fiend at 50% mob health to effectively reset my mana pool to full and then finishing the fight on empty. Some people would argue that's the most effective method, but I prefer to save cooldowns for emergencies such as dps died and that fight drags out to just before the enrage timer rather than have to use cooldowns to even make it through a perfect attempt. Plus there were times I was low on mana and didn't feel like raid health could spare my global cooldowns and time spent channeling hymn. I didn't regem, just switched my trinkets to Spark of Hope and Tears of the Vanquised, two strong mana regen trinkets and started using Distilled Wisdom flasks over other options. Those easy changes made a huge difference and I can spam as much as I want too. In my case all I gave up was 100sp (from a fairly bad throughput trinket) so I feel like I have the best of both worlds. I'm still gemmed and enchanted for throughput and any fight where I'm confident I'll have excess mana I can simply change to throughput trinkets/flask.
Jul 9th 2009 1:55PM The problem with this loot system is the total points in the system will decay over time as people who seldom raid pick up some and people leave or quit raiding. You would need to add points slowly overtime. Which might work.. Add a small bonus for progression kills. It also fails where most DKP systems do in WoW. Holy Pallies. They typically have very little competition for loot so will get their plate pieces very cheaply (especially if the couple you probably have work together) thus giving them a big bonus in getting the pieces which they actually have to compete on first.
