Jun 14th 2007 11:27AM We were watching Pirates a few weeks ago and my friend who just started playing a month ago and has been running VC turns to me and says, "Fools! Our cause is righteous!" halfway through the movie. :P
I was looking at assembling a new computer and while looking at newegg I thought to myself, "Dang I'm gonna need to make a bunch of pots to afford this..." then instantly did a "D'oh!"
Jun 13th 2007 11:24AM Reading my comment again, Robin, I apologize for the tone I took.
I've been very frustrated at the way my friend handled my situation of not enjoying the leveling experience on the Horde side at all (and missing my guild :() and how he abandoned our friendship over my refusal to play that toon. The mere mention of Belfadins now makes me tingly with anger, and I kind of just vomited all sorts of mean and silly things onto my keyboard and into my comment.
Jun 13th 2007 11:16AM I'm sorry, "Blood Knights," but here's the deal- I'm more angry at
A. the fact that such an already Horde-centric blog (literally, are there no alliance writers?!) has to have a blog about paladins written by hordies. Look- shamans, priests, druids- none of them have their own columns. If a horde player writes those, that's fine. But the fact that you can't (and I think, refuse) to find an alliance player to write this article, well that's just silly. Nice name change by the way.
B. the hate I got when my friend asked me to roll a BE pally (because my main has been one since the beginning) and when I discovered I hate both Blood Elves and the Horde and quit levelling it, he stopped talking to me IRL. Horde sucks.
I'm happy you're learning about the best freaking class in the game, but I'm upset at just what pompous assholes Belfadins can be. This article alone assumes the attitude, "We know you don't like it, and we're going to do it anyways just to spite you." I don't care how much raid experience he has, there's just no way that I respect his opinion on MY class. It would take Uther himself telling me to listen to him for me to do so. (Not that I don't respect him as a player and I acknowledge his points are valid.
I think it's in the best interest of the WoW Insider community to abandon the paladin column for now.
Jun 12th 2007 10:53AM I always make it a point to help people, and I've even gone as far as to practically adopt a nubbie- big mattata there. He ended up thinking that he was my boss, constantly demanding I come run him through ZF and other instances because he "knew the best way to level was instance XP." cough. I ended up getting stressed out from trying to level my toon to 70 all the while being hounded by he and his friends NON-STOP and took a two-month hiatus. When I came back last month, he was gone. Thankfully, I think he quit the game.
Recently I offered to help a lowbie asking for a healer for BRD. Now, I've only been in BRD 3 times as I didn't ding 60 till March of this year, but I figured nothing was out of reach of my new Essence Focuser and Crystal Pulse Shield. However, I ended up having a RL situation develop and had to drop. Ever since then he's sent me tells about once a week seeing if I can assist him. Before, I would have dropped what I was doing and done whatever he needed. Now, I tell him the truth- no, I'm questing for the gold I need for my epic flying mount, sorry, I can't help. I'm sure eventually I'll assist him, but it'll take a lot of time together before I start giving someone everything for nothing again.
Jun 11th 2007 11:10AM -End this, gents, ees what's wayting fur us een Stermwind. Jeemmy, now ya see why we never, ever, ever raid da keep. MooOo!
-Got it- gollum!
-Arggh, mateys, since we be here t'gether, what say ye all to the idea of a attempt at this salty wench?
-Eh, ah fogot my eff are gear.
-Arggh, I fogot to mention da rest of de concept- we do it in da buff.
-Ya mon, sounds good eef dat be da case- worst comes to de worst, we end up on dat WoW Moviewatch. Someone got FRAPS on?
Jun 8th 2007 11:54AM Should note that I've been 70 for a while now and I doubt I'll let go of my Crystal Pulse Shield. I love that thing, even though I bought it because I got tired of not getting it to drop.
Jun 8th 2007 11:53AM Mine is also my Verigan's Fist. Though my friends who were much higher at the time (they were either almost 60 or just getting it, can't remember) walked me through it and helped gather the materials, I can't remember being more excited to complete a quest (aside from the finishing off that last quest in Hellfire that finally, finally got me ding 60 almost a year and a half after starting the game). That quest is what officially drew me into the game for good.
I'll also never let go of any of my SM gear- Ageis of Scarlet Commander, Triune Amulet, and Morgraine's Might (which was a direct upgrade from Verigan oO) were used for so long that I couldn't let them go if I tried.
Jun 5th 2007 11:06AM Ok, I decided on the way into work that perhaps simply reading the first few paragraphs and then refusing to read on perhaps was a tad bit rash. So I just went back and read over the article.
I must say, you have a poor understanding of the class aside from what everyone says on the forums (about a reliable place for discussion and debate as a strip club). No offense, I love the writing on this site more than any other on the Joystiq network (by far) but at the same time the horde bias sometimes gets a little annoying.
I rolled the paladin class because of my preconceptions. I saw the class as one made up of those who stood up for what's right, and who helps all of those around him/her. That's how I play WoW. An example: I came across a horde group doing the Ring of Blood, and I was wearing healing gear in preparation of the event. I switched to my damage gear (haha holy pally damage gear, can you say "Joke") and proceeded to wail away at them. Then when my tank arrived halfway through, we tanked and healed the bosses for them. They then urged us to start the event for ourselves (the other three members had yet to arrive) and we did so. They then watched us get pounded into the ground, /loling the whole time. Say what you want, but that sure SOUNDS like evil to me. That's why the idea of a belfadin makes me sick, and that's why I refused to read the article at first. Because we ARE holy warriors and we are supposed to help people, and with this Blood Knight tripe that Blizz came up with, you feel you have the knowledge to explain the class to so many who appreciate your opinion, myself included.
I should also note that I have no hate for ret pallies, just that it's hard to be one in endgame and I'm actually a talented healer. (There are more than 2 healing spells!) I've never ever ever played in 2 years with a prot pally. I've been thinking of rolling a dranny just for that.
Geeze, this was longwinded. Work sucks.
Jun 5th 2007 9:46AM Sorry, I stopped reading after "We're both belfadins."
I find it hard to take advice on my class from someone who hasn't played it for more than 6 months. You have to know a paladin who has played for over a year and has a variety of experiences with the class. Hell, I could write the article for you on any aspect of all three trees and how to raid in each tree.
2 of the 4 commenters here are admittedly belfadins, and one more seems to not have played with the class much, making him a likely hordie. It's kinda like me writing an article on shammies in endgame. I have no freaking clue how to play a shammy, mine's lvl 25 and I hate the fact that I can't wear armor.
Apr 1st 2007 12:15PM That attunement chart has to be fake. It's evil.
