Shifting Perspectives: Tanks, bribes, and player behavior {WoW}

It’s not the player base with an attitude and attention span problem; it’s the anonymity of the RFD tool that is at fault. It’s not the users with the skills needed to be good single target melee who can’t figure out how to watch the entire instance and/or four other health bars at the same time; it’s the development staff and/or design issues with the dungeons themselves that is at fault. It’s not like many, if not all MMO style of games the last few years have increasing numbers of our problems; it’s a WoW issue only.

We absolutely should try to address them in WoW. I commend the Blizzard team for attempting to do that. I don’t have to agree with enticing more bad tanks/healers and enabling more bad tanks/healers into more bad instances. I don’t have to agree with easier then harder then easier then harder content swings as they adjust to their paying client base general profile, or lack of when other games launch. I open WoW these days knowing that in some respects, it is a reflection of us. We have instant demands, instant gratification needs and an anonymous world to play in. (As well as game in…)

I don’t heal because it is not fun. Not because of the content or the game itself, but because of the people who play it. I’m not saying that the game has devolved into too easy and no fun, though I liked some things just as I prefer some newer features. Call it another burnout if you want. The net result is that X number of characters across X number of accounts in this particular family of players are all using a DPS spec and not running heroic instances at all.

5 things Blizzard should implement from other MMOs {WoW}

Feb 11th 2011 12:33PM Forgot the add in the EQ awesomeness...Down ranking your character! Having spells and abilities scaled by level is slowly coming into WoW, which puts them closer to a feature I enjoyed in EQ. Lower your character's level so that you can complete older quests or quest with a friend at a lower level or queue in a lower bracket? Everything scales down temporarily.

Feb 11th 2011 12:28PM Dual Talent Tree/Spec always active
Others have implemented this is various forms. Having a dual class you can toggle between, where some talents bleed over from your secondary was a blast to play. Having a multi-'class' like spec as they more recently did in Rift was very interesting. The possibilities of a cookie cutter vs my character can play the way I want was excellent.
IMO, paring down the tree, forcing us to choose almost all of the tree and getting little or no benefit from another tree in the Cataclysm era dumbed down the players into cookie cutter players. (Which ironically they 'say' they don't want...but did anyway)

Officers' Quarters: Choice and consequence {WoW}

Jan 31st 2011 9:37AM Good advice. Ultimately people DO need to chill and not escalate so quickly (new players as well as old players).
As to your's your copy of the game to play how you want and what makes you happy. My personal opinion, however, is that with your second spec you make an attempt to help the RAID. That doesn't mean play something you don't want to do but be willing to try other choices that might help the group out some. Ultimately fall back on what you enjoy. If you just don't like the other two not play one of them. You'll never do your best or enjoy (or frustratingly enjoy) raiding with the guild doing a spec or class you don't want.

Tuesday Morning Post: There's treasure inside {WoW}

Jan 11th 2011 2:08PM The Care and Feeding of Warriors has been a place to go to for advice since I'm leveling a warrior for the first time. Mr. Rossi has been a source of much advice and help in my research to play the class correctly.
Official PTR Patch 4.0.6 patch notes was interesting reading this morning while the world as we know it, was down. Bad BAD Blizzard for crashing the launcher and making me think for a second that my computer had an issue!!!
