Jan 23rd 2010 4:16PM Back when my guild was first learning ZG we were stuck on the Thekal. After a couple of whipes one of our hunters says 'brb afk'. After 15 min he still had not come back. We were still a small guild at the time, and did not have anyone online to replace him, so we pulled the boss withouth him and proceded to down him.
As we continued to the panther boss he went offline for being afk for so long. We took on the panther for the first time and one shotted her. When we were looting he comes back online and says 'WTF guys! you couldnt wait for me!' We asked him where he had been and he said 'I said brb, I had to take a shower!'
Needless to say this drew a lot of laughs, as well as a couple of inside jokes for our guild. Every time we struggled on a boss afterwards we would encourage him to go afk, and any time another member had to go afk for more than a couple min they would say 'afk shower'. We have also gotten into the habit of putting up a 30 min pizza timer on DBM any time he says brb
Jun 17th 2009 1:56PM I completely agree that the idea of wanted 'geared' players for naxx 10/25 or os10/25 is a silly idea.
I had an unbeleiveablly hard time getting into a raid on my DK alt. I had decent gear....all crafted and heroic epics, as well as the mirror of truth from badge.I also had the sword from argent tourny seals. The rest of my gear was either heroic, quest or crafted blues. I would try to remind people that I had better gear at that time then they did on thier mains going into those raids...but it didnt matter. The only way I could get a group was have them look up my main, who is 4/5 8.5 and cleared all content except yogg (not counting hard modes either).
An example of how silly it has gotten. The members of my guild that were not saved from the guild run got a partial pug of H VoA togather. I remember someone threatening to leave the group if i was not removed due to my gear. After we cleared VoA I linked the recount dps to him...the one that showed me in 'crap' gear beat him out on dps by about 1.2k, even though he was in his full naxx 25 gear.
I just wish people would remember that gear is not the end all be all. Things like knowing the fights, knowing your class and your skill can far and away make up for any gear shortcomings a toon may have.
Feb 3rd 2009 11:44PM I read the first two pages of comments...and could not go any farther.. I thought I may actually vomit after reading all the classes ignorant to warriors try to explain why the penelties are ok. I have an 80 DK, 80 War 80 mage and 80 priest, as well as a 70 rogue. Nothing, and I repeat nothing is harsher to a these classes i have played than the warrior stance penelty.
I am one of those that like the idea in principle, of certain penelties/advantages from different stances..its makes the warrior unique...but at the moment its just to much.
Think of it in the perspective of someone that likes to pvp as a warrior. As a warrior to be viable in pvp I have to right on top of you. To do that I must use intercept (don't kind yourself if you think charge is worth a damn in pvp..its too easy for anything with range to get us in combat before we are in charge range)....which ironically the improved intercept talent is in the arms tree, which is typically viewed as the battle stance tree.... anyway to intercept we must be in serker stance, a stance that we take TEN FREAKING % more damage for the tradeoff of 3 more crits in 100 attacks...doesnt seem worth it? Also, to be viable agiasnt casters/healers we must be in the serker stance as it is the only stance pummel can be used it. I do not think I can stress how careful a warrior must be to use any other stance only ability that is useful in pvp (disarm, overpower, thunder clap, sheild wall to name a few). We have to suffer the GCD, eat all rage (in arena if you are not the target i cannot stress how gib a penelty that is...as arms if you miss any attack after you can be rage starved forth next 15-20 seconds..) and hope we can still get enough rage to pummel/intercept after.
Enough wall of text..i could site specific examples as to why the stance dancing is to harsh a penelty VS every class if you want. But take it from someone who has played multiple classes...the penelty is too much. Again im not saying no penelty, but what you get needs to be worth what you pay for it.
Dec 16th 2008 2:38PM I would have to say I was always PVP first and formost. I have justicar and 90k+ hks on my main, and at least another 50k on spread on my alts. In vanilla wow I grinded to field marshal and would have hit grand marshall if I had another week to play or i didnt have 63 DHKs. In the first arena season I was slow to get started but ended up with full glad gear, while in season 2 i got a fast start and held about a 2300 on my 5s team and 2000 on my 3s. Season 3 and the first part of 4 i took a hiatus from wow but still managed to get brutal weps before WotLK came about.
I lived for PVP. But...now...im really not that interested. For a couple reasons. I have been maxed on honor and marks for some time, and havent been able to spend them. Because of that I havent really seen a point to do any BGs (especially since i had checked out SotA on beta). I did a couple WGs but even that hasnt really excited me. Perhaps after that patch when i can get rewards will change that, but i am not sure.
Another reason PVP no longer interest me is simple class imbalance. Only 5v5 can circumvent that to an extent, but it really is a chore finding 5 dedicated pvpers and arranging times between our own schedules and raids to get the nessacary matches in.
There are many other reasons as well..but this is enough of a wall for now. I just wanted to point out that its not just the casuals but even some the die hard pvpers that are tired of the direction bliz has taken pvp. With all the pve gear people have now its going to be a pain gettig the pvp gear required to compete w/o getting two shot...i dont know if i have the patience to grind that again.
Nov 24th 2008 8:52PM I always like the the idea that if you start gathering/mining a node you 'tag' that node, thereby making you the person that can mine from it for a set ammount of time. That way you can start gathering and if you are interupted by a mob you can kill it and still claim the node. If you were to die, move a certain distance away or wait to long the node resets.
Nov 12th 2008 3:12PM me!
Nov 10th 2008 3:00PM I want....
Oct 14th 2008 3:24PM Since I have been on beta there is not a lot here I have not seen, I will do what i have been the last couple weeks. Farming mats and making money for when the expac comes. I have a lot of alts that need that Dalaran ring ^^
