May 19th 2009 8:24PM I'm not liking my odds here very much, but what the hell.

Forum post of the day: Why did you /gquit {WoW}

May 15th 2009 5:55AM Ok...I've read the original post, and the recap, and it sounds like the issue is a simple one of differing desires from the guild.

The issues as I see them boil down to this: The original poster was looking more for a leveling and social guild. He wound up joining a guild more dedicated to raiding than he was comfortable with.

Issue 1 - not getting congratulated; that's purely a social convenience. And, yeah, it does do the ego some good when people notice something you did and congratulate you for it. At the very least it's a reminder that people know you're still out there.

Issue 2 - not trusting people: He was burned, probably in trading, by his guildmates. If you can't trust the people in your guild, you are in the wrong guild. I think he's overreacting by not joining any guild, but, hey, there you go.

Issue 3 - not being invited to raids: I will presume that this is a guild meant for exploiting high-end content, and the OP is not a highest level player. It is the classic problem of "How do you gear your lesser guild members if you never raid with them? How do you get a feel for their capabilities, if you never run instances with them?" And that's what it sounds like is happening here.

Issue 4 - not using Vent *or* the guild website: Well, I can kinda understand not wanting to check yet *another* site when online, but a guild website, with a large enough guild that raids, certainly has its uses. But it sounds like the OP would be ok with using the in-game voice chat - which I've used, and while pathetic, still does work.

The overboard part of the OP is saying "I didn't get what I wanted out of this guild, so I'm never joining a guild again." But the reasons given for gquitting are all valid - it's the sign of a guild that doesn't meet your needs, and you should never be in a guild like that.

Player receives Developer item in the mail, one-shots Ulduar {WoW}

Apr 29th 2009 7:32PM All enemies in a 30 yard radius? Be thankful he didn't go to AV, or Wintergrasp, or even to an Arena. It could have been used for a lot more evil than it was.

Apr 23rd 2009 8:35PM It could be argued that this is the first sign that they already have.

Shifting Perspectives: A 3.1 miscellany, part 2 {WoW}

Apr 16th 2009 5:29PM Is Dreamstate mandatory now? Useful? Is it a benefit versus taking Celestial Focus? Can we get some theorycrafting on this topic from someone - especially for those folks who might still be leveling?

Breakfast Topic: A change of pace {WoW}

Apr 1st 2009 8:45AM Whoa. What mod do you use to get your screen to look like that?

Apr 1st 2009 2:04AM The change to Thorns may not be doing much for your tank, but as a solo'ing Balance Druid, it makes me happy. Any increase in SP scaling helps.

How does the hit in mp5 affect balance druids?

Developers call for focused PvP testing on the PTR {WoW}

Mar 24th 2009 6:32PM Spoken like someone who's never been in the computer software industry.

The quote goes: "You can't make something completely foolproof, because fools are so ingenius." It goes well alongside "You can make it foolproof, but you can't make it damn-foolproof."

Blizzard's real testers are doing and have done their job - even if they miss in a few places. The point of PTR testing is to get some idea if people will *like* the changes, and how they play out after people *use* the changes. It's also a chance to see how the plan goes after first engagement with the enemy.

I will also add that the kind of people who want pre-mades are not really the kind of people they want testing. They want people who've *played* the game up to 80, and especially people who may not have fully optimized equipment yet.

Nice troll - you've managed to get me all rightously indignified. I will stop now for everyone's benefit, including mine.

Mar 24th 2009 5:35PM Perhaps they should disable Ulduar (and instance) testing until enough people have tested the Tournament and BGs.

Of course, I'm not doing the PTR, so I can say this with impunity...

Spiritual Guidance: The Undying experience of a Priest {WoW}

Mar 24th 2009 5:32PM It's been a while since you've talked about leveling - the Priest forum sticky on the Blizzard forums only seems to agree that "your first 3 points go into Spirit Tap", but beyond that, it gets confusing.

I would welcome a discussion on this topic...
