Aug 31st 2010 10:24AM Actually, the screen shot is here: http://static.mmo-champion.com/mmoc/images/news/2010/july/undeadonraptoronsharkwithfrickinlaserbeams.jpg
You can see that the screen shot submitted is actually a cropped version of that one.
Aug 31st 2010 10:22AM Yep. Boubouille from MMO-Champion made a very similar screenshot and subsequently posted it to r/wow on reddit, and maybe a few other places (that's just where I saw it).
Jun 21st 2010 4:00PM As someone who has only ever done arena casually, I actually prefer the new system much more to the old system. In the new system, I could actually see rewards as my partner(s) and I played.
One of the main things that changed under the new systems wasn't the way ratings work...your rating still drifts to the same number either way whether you start at 0 or 1500...but rather the fact that they lowered the rating requirements on gear to where you could have a sub 1500 rating and actually buy things. In the new system I play my way up to the number I'm trying to get to for new gear, in the old system I have to try to play well enough not to decrease below what I need.
As a casual, one of the biggest barriers to arena is this constant feeling of always being two tiers behind. I feel like every time I do arena I'm at a disadvantage because other teams have better gear, yet at the same time I have to win a decent amount of the time if I want to improve. The removal of ratings as a requirement for gear is something I'm very much looking forward to in Cataclysm. I have enough motivation as it to try to succeed inherently without the barriers that rating requirements cause.
May 25th 2010 9:46PM While I'm happy about the cape, I'm disappointed by the ring. No haste = sad panda. It's probably an upgrade over the triumph haste/spirit ring that I'm currently using, but I'd much rather have Marrowgar's Frigid Eye.
Oct 31st 2009 5:07PM Shaman are fine. We got a much needed boost in 3.2 with the changes to Improved Water Shield and the amount of mp5 on gear. The only times I have mana problems are either when I ankh/battle rez or when I forget to refresh water shield, and both situations warrant mana problems IMO - and that's after shedding much of the mp5 I had before the chain heal buff patch. If they should make any changes to mana, it should be to nerf everyone else. Nerfing Spirit didn't do much in the current situation of "spam big heals all the time so the tank doesn't die".
That said, mana regen is MUCH harder as a fresh 80 than a Shaman in ToC10/25 gear, but then again what class isn't that true for?
Oct 23rd 2009 2:38PM Fair enough. I guess a distinction between "people still in Normal" and "casuals who don't care" can be made...but I think it's better put as "people gearing up" than "those still in Naxx/Uld".
Oct 23rd 2009 2:21PM Norm ToC used to have more of a difficulty curve...but then they decided that Faction Champs was too hard and nerfed it. As someone in a "Gentry" guild, I too think that there is too big of a gap in difficulty between Anub norm and FC heroic. Progression is more fun when it's more steady.
Also RE: "still in Naxx and Ulduar", I don't know if you've noticed, but badge gear trumps Naxx gear and Ulduar (after the first few bosses) is probably as hard or harder than ToC. While clearing Ulduar is still possibly a feat that's worth accomplishing, I think the current progression route for most fresh 80's is more along the lines of Badges -> ToC, completely bypassing T7/8 altogether.
May 7th 2009 8:27AM IMO, this poll might be more informative if raiding was broken down by tier instead of raid size.
