Oct 6th 2009 9:56AM Well, stuff DID drop for me, I guess -- the Stamina trinkets which I used to up my pretty-terrible tanking set, and the remote. But the thing I was really going for, either of the mounts, never dropped!
Next year, Direbrew! NEXT YEAR, YOUR RAM WILL BE MINE.
Oct 5th 2009 8:21AM It's like what jealouspirate has said. While I'm anxiously following every bit of information about the patch, I think I don't quite have the mindset (or the time) to test it out for myself. I'm more of a casual WOWer, so I think the PTR is better left to people who know more about what they're doing.
But I'll still hound the new discoveries as they come up. I think my favorite so far is the added running animation for hippogryffs -- long overdue! I know, it's not important at all.
I'm thrilled about walking through an instance with Sylvanas by my side, though. Have to admit. I'm looking forward to that more than most of what else I've heard.
Oct 3rd 2009 11:31PM I find that census to be a bit hard to believe, honestly, for one main reason -- my server is listed as having an Alliance pop of 90% and a Horde pop of 10%, yet there have never been free Horde transfers available to it or free Alliance transfers off. 90/10 is a bit absurd. Maybe most of the Alliance players have multiple alts?
Oct 3rd 2009 9:23AM When I first started playing WOW, a good friend had a druid as her main and seemed to enjoy it quite a bit, so I decided I'd roll one and see how I liked it. The druid is obviously my main now. I have a rogue I've been spending a lot of time on lately that was made as part of a "leveling group" with some friends -- a paladin, a priest, a hunter, a mage, and a rogue (mine). But as they hurried to level up I decided to focus on leveling my druid instead, so, more than a year later, my rogue is finally getting her long-overdue attention.
The announcement of Tauren paladins has encouraged me to give Pallies another try, once Cataclysm hits. It remains to be seen whether I'll switch my main from the druid -- Swift Flight form spoils me so hard! -- to either the rogue (I have to admit, hybrids seem to just appeal to me more than pure classes) or the planned paladin.
Oct 1st 2009 8:37AM This isn't something I did so much as something that was done for me, but back when I was leveling up my first character, I was doing the robot chicken quest in Tanaris and getting a bit overwhelmed with the mobs on the then-long trek to Steamwheedle Port. A max-level player of the opposite faction stopped what they were doing and killed mobs for me as I ran through the desert.
It's been a gesture I've remembered since, obviously, and it's something I've always appreciated. It takes a lot of goodwill to drop what you're doing and help out a player who isn't even the same faction as you are.
Sep 30th 2009 8:11AM I'll actually be legitimately annoyed if Worgen get Thriller. That dance always should have belonged to the Forsaken.
I don't have any better ideas, though, sadly. I'm just not in-tune enough with the pop music world to have any. Maybe the females of one of the races can do the Single Ladies dance, though?
Sep 26th 2009 9:38AM Haha at the gnome upthread. I'm so tired of seeing gnome players cry about how they "only" will have 6 classes in Cataclysm. Tauren had four classes before Death Knights came along and they somehow managed just fine. I'm sure you'll do just fine too.
I think Death Knights are and always have been a disaster, to the point that I'd be happy to never see another Hero Class again. In ANY expac. A lot of people are disappointed over there not being one in Cataclysm, but I'm going to be honest, I breathed a sigh of relief. Death Knights are still overpowered and irritating as a class -- individual players might not be, but boy, the class itself sure is.
I think they hit a good note with the Argent Coliseum dungeon/heroic/raid, honestly. It feels epic for a filler dungeon. Everyone hates the pageantry and introductions, with good reason, but I remember sitting there and going "this is so cool" the first time I went in. The tournament itself as a story element, though? Going to have to agree, ehhhh, not a good choice on Blizzard's end.
I think Wrath in general has also been very good with buildup toward Arthas as the last boss, and I'm speaking as Horde; I'm sure the buildup is even better on Alliance side. I want to go kill that jerk ASAP, and I already feel like it'll be awesome.
Northrend in general also just feels a lot more "finished" than Outland ever did to me. Maybe it's phasing? Outland felt like a lot of it was thrown together at the last minute before deadline, where Northrend is a lot more cohesive and flowing.
Sep 25th 2009 7:32PM @Methuus: I'd be willing to believe that Tirion would give him a chance at redemption, except that it was already addressed in the Matthias Lehner questline. Arthas taunts Tirion with that exact knowledge. "You're a paladin," he says. "Don't you want to save humanity's most prodigal son?"
"There's nothing about you to save, Arthas," is Tirion's reply. He knows Arthas is too far gone and he's not going to let the knowledge of who Arthas once was disarm him. If anybody's going to extend a hand to Arthas and beg him to take it and return to who he once was, it's not going to be Tirion. Tirion knows there's no redemption left. He's not foolish enough to let the slim, slim possibility distract him.
Though I do fully expect Tirion to die. Probably to sacrifice himself to greatly weaken Arthas so we can bring him down in the first place. Tirion is a man who really has nothing left to lose and will risk anything to see Arthas put down like the traitor he is.
Sep 24th 2009 8:13AM Waiting on Lunar Festival, personally. Just didn't have time to get all of the Northrend dungeons finished, and the Horde on my server was having problems holding onto Wintergrasp that entire week.
I just hope they don't go adding things to the meta for those of us that weren't enterprising enough to get it in the first year :)
Sep 22nd 2009 8:00AM I just hope they fix all the Brewfest bugs. Not only are the Dark Irons bugged, but when I went to fight Coren Direbrew today, it told me I'd already done 25 daily quests when I'd done about 10.
Not to mention the terrible lag.
