Apr 8th 2011 2:11PM Our guild on Stormreaver has 5 members who are deaf. They are funny. Kind. Dedicated and SOLID raiders. One plays a hunter, 2 are DKs, one of who does an excellent job raid tanking from time to time. A shadow priest and the last of the gang would be an alt-aholic who raids atm on his holy paladin. We also had a fury warrior for a while but his work schedule keeps him from raiding atm.
I can honestly say that rarely if ever are wipes caused by our non-hearing members. They truly "listen" better than those that are blessed with the ability to do so. They come incredibly prepared for every encounter. They understand class mechanics ... they are truly all around solid. Has it been a challenge from time to time? Of course. Why? Because we can't merely be lazy and just "say in vent" w/e it is we're doing. We have to be diligent to make sure we communicate to everyone. We have a specific channel set up and one of my officers is our transmitter :) Have we had members freak out about our deaf members? Sure. But 9/10 times once they SEE how they conduct themselves. Any doubt they've had vanishes. This small part of our guild...makes me laugh. smile and wonder. I can't imagine our guild w/out them.
So, to those too close minded to make new friends JUST because they can't hear you QQ in vent. Shame on you!
Apr 4th 2011 4:18PM My guild recently adopted/merged with another guild. This is the second time I've done this as a GM, the last time was in BC. So far this merger has been successful. I think there are a few things that are very important to a successful merger.
1) The culture of the two guilds needs to be very similar. They want to raid/progress. You want to raid/progress. If I had a dime for every player who WANTED to be a raider until they learned it was more of a commitment than they were willing to make...I could retire.
2) Make a representative of the merging guild an officer in your guild. Having a voice in the new guild is important. Having a liaison between the existing officer core and the new rank and file is key. W/out a clear means for communication with a comfortable and familiar face it could be far more difficult to get over the bumps in the road.
3) Make the members of the merging guild on a more level playing field with existing guild members. Don't make people who had stature in the merging guild start as a recruit. Starting them as a recruit/trial is an insult imo.
Polarity has 3 ranks. Recruit. Member. Raider. Oh and those evil officers of course. Those that joined us were elevated to a "member" rank. Yeah. It ruffled a few existing member feathers but, hey. As I said to my rank/file; we can sit in SW and dance naked all night or we can find some solid players and hopefully new friends and kill some shiza.
4) Watch the use of your guild/our guild. Them/us. It's a blended family.
5) Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.
I'm sure this isn't rocket science. I feel fortunate that I've been successful in adopting guilds/new members into my guild. Sometimes some new faces and personalities can be the jump start a guild needs to get out of the slump you’re in.
Mar 8th 2011 5:50PM I hate what blizzard has done to druids. I wish they'd spend this much time nerfing horde racials. And YES...that is a boatload of QQ
Jan 5th 2011 4:08PM Find a good guild and pugs will fade from your memory! :) And YES I know finding one not filled with people discussing poop is sometimes difficult. However, there are many guilds like mine on Stormreaver that try and maintain a mature yet childlike atmosphere.
Oct 12th 2010 9:57AM "What about you, dear reader? Whether it's on this list or not, what do you plan to do when you log on after the patch?"
Cry. Farewell my constant tree form!
Oct 6th 2010 2:06PM I will miss my tree form...
I won't miss shape-shifting for cyclone.
I will miss my tree form ....
I will miss my tree ...
Tree form didn't make us the odd healer out...It made us the unique healer.
Oct 4th 2010 7:31PM I really loathe this change. It's already difficult enough to balance 10 and 25m groups. I can hear the emo qq about stacked groups already. And yes. I understand a guild won't have to balance because the loot is the same. Regardless I think this is a mistake and penalizes guilds.
May 25th 2010 1:35PM Hmm...
So 5, 10, 15, 20% buffs.
Tier gear available with badges. I mean serious you can complete gear yourself in the various badge gear items.
All things that cater to the "casual" player Blizzard seems to LOVE so much. AVRE is just the perfect addon for Blizzards target market. Yet they want to break it?
Maybe they should stop giving badges too and go back to people having to know how to play to get gear like they did in BC.
Maybe they should stop writing such fail content and go back to what was TRUE progression in BC.
No wait. Let's spend our development time on breaking some addon that helps the casuals be not as fail.
Apr 14th 2009 7:17PM It's too bad that they can't learn to work together? Pretty sad to see them attack something that is far more efficient than they are. AHMG Curse the M$ of wow-addons! L2PWellWithOthers
Dec 5th 2008 11:43AM My priest is 80...has been for almost 2 weeks (ya I know weeks behind). Anyway. Healing at 80 as a Holy Priest imo is not alot of fun.
Blizzard showed priests NO love imo and if they go ahead with the CoHax Nerf...gg we'll be gimped even more. /sigh
Oh wait...Raiding was too expensive.
Fix the economy...Blizzard...
Maybe I should just get a monkey to play my toon. That seems like the level of skill/knowledge required now.
