Breakfast Topic: Do you have a crush on a minor NPC? {WoW}

Feb 16th 2012 11:26AM *cough*

Those illicit days with my worm meat
Passed through her wall from the dark street.
My auction days are done,
and now I'm on the run.
Who knew that her man was an elite?

The OverAchiever: Why Icecrown was less fun than Sunwell {WoW}

Aug 25th 2011 3:52PM Everyone remembers the really great Ulduar achievements, with unique logical mechanisms. XT was inspired - if you can't kill the heart, you're not good enough to do heroic. You must be this tall to ride. Firefighter and Freya 3 were fantastic execution fights that felt like they were designed on heroic, and then had parts removed to make the regular version. No one remembers countless number of stupid "no one gets hit on vezax enjoy your lag" achievements, or "iron dwarf medium kill all your new recruits who are asking to do this fight again while all your healers afk in fire to get out of standing here for 15 minutes STOP AOEING GUYS." Every tier had achievements that were fun, and ones that sucked. I had a blast doing KT's achieves, Sindragosa's made me want to kill my raid team. There were just a LOT MORE in Ulduar, so of course some were better and some were worse. There's a big difference between the "hard mode" 7 and the rest of the 20? 30? Ulduar achievements.

I'm going to agree that the BC glory days memories have a lot more to do with raider burn out than actual design mechanisms being substantially better. If you were a raider in BC, and are still a hardmode raider now, that's 4 or 5 YEARS of pushing. 1% of raiders did sunwell, and what percent of those raiders are STILL hardmode raiders? It's gotta be something like one in a thousand players or less. 4 or 5 years of game disallusionment, real life responsibilities, and age. Hell, even BEER is less exciting than it was 5 years ago, guys.

And a lot of the "BC was Better" gang are people who, if they're totally honest, never raided in BC or only did Kara, but went back in at 80, or 85, roflstomped the content, and said "Illidan looks awesome." Arthas and Nef look awesome , too. Really. You just stop seeing it after a few weeks spent on their floor.

And I was a hardmode raider who was damn proud of every first kill in WotLK, from deafening nerd screams at an incredibly late Maly10 regular mode kill to deafening nerd screams at a regular LK kill, even knowing it meant we were starting a months log slog of hardmodes. Hell, it was MORE exciting because we knew we were looking down the barrel of more content, more fun, more time spent with friends, and more accomplishments, not just getting to rest on our laurels til the next patch.

Breakfast Topic: What post-launch game features do you most appreciate? {WoW}

Jan 26th 2011 9:14AM The addition of Arena has really changed the background workings of the classes a great deal, by forcing the developers to balance 30 specs for not just PVE but also PVP encounters. While it's not as obvious as LFD or lowbie mounts, it'd be hard to overstate the importance of adding arena, along with pvp-only gear, to the game, even for people who never PVP.

Cataclysm's best leveling improvement: no more clown suits {WoW}

Nov 11th 2010 4:18PM I liked the Clown suits because you could mix and match, and because getting good-looking gear meant you were accomplishing something. It's surreal being on beta and looking like everyone else. They do look amazing, but it's so homogeneous that it gets old fast.

Icecrown Citadel raid buff has been buffed to 10% {WoW}

Mar 31st 2010 4:52AM This is blatantly untrue. All the top guilds are taking the buff, and will until they have beat all the current encounters. After that, sure, I can see some ePeening over turning off the buff. Unless you're in Paragon, I don't think the matter applies to you yet.

Guild started HM Saurfang 25 today and let me tell you, fight is no joke even with 10% buff.

Breakfast Topic: What we don't know {WoW}

Oct 20th 2009 12:27PM ...seriously?? Been playing since TBC and had NO IDEA the game did this. Awesome.

Defining "PuGgable" {WoW}

May 7th 2009 3:41PM I would venture to say what you're running isn't a PuG then, but a raid alliance. If you regularly run with the same people, under organized leadership, it's not any different than running with a guild other than the names in brackets over people's heads. I run one, too. (9th on our server. )

A PuG to me is 25 people who don't know each other.

Breakfast Topic: It's gotta happen sometime {WoW}

Mar 20th 2009 10:41AM My Guildie got the achievements for clearing Stratholme and winning the Baron's Mount simultaneously, during the Lunar Festival. There was much O.o .

Shifting Perspectives: The dual-specced Druid part 2 {WoW}

Feb 18th 2009 11:02AM Definitely going Moonkin/Tree. I already spend a fortune respeccing back and forth and have full gear sets for both specs. I love healing, but my guild is still short on DPS, and sometimes you need a break from ittybittygreenbars for giant starfire crits.

I also keep a mediocre cat set built of unwanted stuff from runs with no enchanter, just in case I ever develop a severe allergy to feathers.

I am a lousy lousy bear tank, no interest in ever going tank-feral. If I want to tank, I'll play my plate classes.

The Queue: From Hell's heart I stab at thee... {WoW}

Feb 13th 2009 2:59PM Question about addons:

I'm looking for something lightweight that'll flash a middle of the screen notice or turn my Grid a different color when I'm at certain %s of mana. Sometimes I get so focused on two dozen itty bitty green bars that I forget to look at my own blue one til I'm not able to cast. I don't need something as intense as TimetoOOM, just something that''ll let me know when I'm at 30%, and 5%, so I can pop Innervate/a pot or mess with the 5sr.
