Dec 15th 2009 3:18PM One thing I think you guys need to keep in mind is that Death Knights are, well, pretty beefy. Death Gripping a caster that the tank couldn't get isn't going to kill us unless we're in really bad gear.
For fights like Razorscale, I make a point of going for the casters as my main target. Why? Because I can unload everything on them and not worry about the damage - Death Strike more than covers it.
Dec 15th 2009 3:13PM The thing with Frost is that you *can* tank decently without it on. All it does is give you a bit (a few hundred for me) more health and a bunch of armor, along with increased threat.
The other day I got through all of the trash in Vault leading up to Koralon in Blood presence, and I didn't even notice. The healers didn't notice either, and I didn't have any trouble at all keeping threat.
For heroics and raid trash, Frost simply isn't necessary. There are a number of bosses that you could probably tank in Blood too, the only potential issue being your threat in a longer fight.
Dec 15th 2009 3:08PM Because you can wear plate and the Shammy can't. There is no pally mail in the game, it's shaman or hunter gear that happens to have the stats you want. Likewise, some of my DK's best-in-slot pieces are rogue/feral leather. If there were a rogue and a feral druid in our raid and one of those dropped, there'd be no question that the two of them would have priority on it.
People have been complaining about other classes using lower clothing types for ages, and the new Need/Greed rules were Blizzard's attempt at fixing that.
Dec 15th 2009 1:53PM My wife and I have been dealing with this issue too, and it sucks. Her druid lost out on upgrading a 213 to 232 yesterday because it was cloth, and my pally is still using 174 boots because he can't roll on mail.
The worst part is that a solution would be ridiculously simple:
Any class with a lower clothing type than you gets priority if they should hit Need. That is, in a group with a Mage, a Druid, and a Shammy, my Pally's Need roll would only matter if all three of them passed/greeded.
As my wife said through gritted teeth, if you don't want us rolling on it, don't let us wear it.
Dec 13th 2009 5:52PM If you're a non-raider, you have no need for the plans.
Dec 12th 2009 11:04PM Penny Arcade long ago said all that ever need be said on this topic:
Dec 12th 2009 5:25PM You guys know it got nerfed to hell, right?
I took a PUG through there the other day and we got Make It Count. I think that says everything you need to know.
Dec 10th 2009 6:38PM Some spells take a while to float over to the enemy. A warlock's Haunt, for instance - at max range, I've been able to get two instants off before it landed.
I've always assumed that Haunt won't affect anything I cast until it actually lands, simply because that's when it starts ticking. If it worked while the spell was in-flight, I'd be getting bonus time on the debuff the farther back I stand.
Dec 9th 2009 8:24PM No, gating is the wings of the ten-man. It's like giving us Naxx with just the Spider Wing to start with.
Dec 9th 2009 4:20PM Have you checked out Blood? It's always been the single-target tree.
