WoWMatrix responds to Curse and WoW Interface {WoW}

May 7th 2009 6:38PM I don't know how to read code and I don't believe you that code has been changed. What would be the purpose for doing so? I would like to see the developers notes on how his or her code was changed by Wowmatrix, otherwise all you are doing is spreading specious rumors.
Which ones are you saying have been changed and what was the purpose of the the change?
For the most part, every add on I get from them links back to the authors own website, from what I can see. ( the only ones that do not, are not carried by them or are no longer updated at all)

There is nothing illegal or immoral about offering addons that are in the public domain and many addon developers do have there addons in the wowmatrix stable by choice too

Im not sure why you are spreading such damaging rumors, because thats all they are without very convincing back up for what you are saying.

May 7th 2009 8:57AM can you prove all or any of these allegations Wobin?

I'm sorry, you clearly have never actually done any business with WM if you believe they are "ethical". All -you- see is a whitewashed website with "Oh we are HERE FOR THE COMMUNITY", when in fact they are here for the profits, just like everyone else.

How the hell are they ethical? They have stolen addons, they have modified them without permission, they scraped, they leeched, they did everything they could to get their hands on addons up to and including editing copyright notices.

Ethical they are not.

WoWMatrix responds to Curse and WoW Interface {WoW}

May 7th 2009 3:14AM I love wowmatrix

They provided an addon updater when for me, as a mac user, there was nothing available to me and I had to spend a lot of time often clumsily updating my addons by hand, including pulling out each folder on something like auctioneer and putting them separately into my, at that time hard to find, wow interface folder

They still have about three quarters of my addons on their site, and now when I down load them a window opens asking me if I want to donate to the developer of the addons and i have done so.

I think they are far more ethical, user friendly and sensible than anything else on offer and I will download what i need from them whenever I can. Curse is just plain annoyingly complex and silly
and i havent used wowinterface lately.
The story does seem far less one sided than Curse and WI would have us believe. I would prefer to support Wowmatrix because they have saved me so much hair fulling frustration for over a year and they have my complete loyalty because of this.

Officers' Quarters: Disposable raiders {WoW}

May 4th 2009 7:54PM I have been a hard core raider and sometimes now help friends out by pugging in their raids. My hard core raid's rule was that if you did not turn up for raid fifteen minutes before the raid was due to begin, your slot would be filled by someone else and you could not get it back. You could be waitlisted though if you wanted to be for another slot to open during the raid for your role, class, spec...
It was severely frowned on to turn up late for a raid. You were late if you were not there fifteen minutes before hand, as I said.

This is excellent policy in my opinion because it teaches people respect for their fellow raiders, and it shows that you are expected to be committed to the team. I don't think a guild has to be hard core to expect this commitment.

I think once you have replaced a late guildy they should be waitlisted and should not expect a slot at all, especially at the expense of someone who is already now in the raid.

Treating a pugger as disposable means you are treating a person as disposable and that shows your values and your guilds values. If I, as a pugger, am ever dropped for a guildy who is late, and it has happened a couple of times, I blacklist that guild and will no longer run with them. I don't want to run with raid leaders who have so little respect for others.

[1.Local]: The theory, debate, controversy and scandal edition {WoW}

May 4th 2009 6:22AM hey ravisha
I can see where you are coming from but we dont know the whole story, no one can. I Think blizzard hates anything in the game that interferes in the game play whether they made it or not ( I can't understand why they make stuff like that vest anyway. What's its purpose? I'm totally baffled)

The thing is its Blizzard's game, they make the rules and the rules are clear. I just think the people who have been banned need to make new characters and move on. Fighting on will be pointless for them because Blizz seems adamant the characters will not be restored.
I wish them luck and I dont think they deserve all the bitter and meanspirited personal attacks being levelled at them. I don't think anybody deserves that kind of treatment. I think the people who behave with aggression only show their own shortcomings.

If you spend much time in any discussion groups anywhere on the net you will discover there are people who use their anonymity to cause a lot of grief. Do not take anything they say to heart. They do not speak for the vast majority of humanity who have moderate and kinder opinions
If I were you, a little while down the track, when i have recovered from the shock of blizzards very definte reaction, I would buy a new account and create a new character of awesome delightfulness and revel in the game again.
Or maybe use the change that blizzard has created to choose to use it in a new way,maybe by creating awsome graphic art or something

cheers

and a hug

Dont let that fabulous computer go to waste

Current Realm Status: Up {WoW}

Apr 15th 2009 12:13AM well,
this doesnt really help me with my downloading problem, however this downloading problem, the addon changes, the loss of wowmatrix and my boredom with the game are definitely starting to make me feel my addiction is waning fast

:)

If i leave this game I will not be replacing it with some other one

I would still love some help working out what is wrong with my downloading

Current Realm Status: Up {WoW}

Apr 14th 2009 11:45PM i cant even download the patch. It keeps saying i am behind a firewall . i am not. I always have this problem and just set the firewall settings again as they like, even though they are already set that way, but i have been trying for six hours and still cannot download the patch.

it loads about a tenth or less, then it makes no progress then it says, after about an hour stuck there that it cant download because of a firewall

Im starting to feel slightly annoyed

anybody got any helpful ideas on how to solve this?

Curse, WoW Interface band together to block WoWMatrix {WoW}

Apr 14th 2009 10:04AM oh
hell

I love wowmatrix it solved all my addon updating problems becaues i too have a mac and i used to have to do it all manually which is a huge pain in the neck and takes about an hour

This is a further nail in the coffin for me, I have been spending the last month deciding if i will continue to play hard core, go casual or go cold turkey, and without wowmatrix to update, cold turkey might be the way to go

:(((

vale wowmatix you were totally brilliant
