Oct 26th 2010 11:48AM I played D2 as a pally pre-1.0.8 (i think?) when they sucked, got him up to lvl 99. When WoW hit the shelves, I wanted to play a pally, but my RL friend was horde, so I started a priest. Had fun at first, leveled as holy and ground it out, got to 60 and raided MC in greens. After such a horrible experience, I stopped playing WoW for about a year.
Mid BC, I come back, find out one of the people I kept in touch with after I quit rerolled alliance. I make me a Draenei pally, and start hitting crap. Levelling was just as bad as a holy priest, but I wanted a pally so I got him up to 70 and my first and only BC raid was Kara, which I tanked pretty successfully (this was 3.0, so it wasn't TOO bad, but I had no idea what the bosses did). Stuck with it through WotLK, healed through Naxx, tanked Uld/ToC, both heal and tank ICC, and he's pretty much ready for Cataclysm.
However, enter my enh shammy I made for fun around naxx time. I am seriously having a blast hitting stuff and those wolves are just win. It has been so enjoyable for me I am now torn between the pally style I have been playing since 2001, or this shammy that is fun, but in a different way than pally tanking/healing. Oh, and the priest got a free xfer off my main server so he wasn't first :P
Oct 15th 2010 6:06PM There are serious sports nerds too. The overlap between being a sports nerd and a gaming nerd is pretty slim, and seeing how this match-up will probably be one of the highest watched sports program this week, it makes sense to attract new people to play WoW.
This article/photo gallery with tags should help explain the sports nerd. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/intro/090805
Jun 11th 2010 7:45PM One night I got totally trashed while raiding. Apparently I was so hilarious on vent that I get requested to drink at least once every couple of weeks. Since then I do not usually drink while raiding (got promoted to Raid Master), but on non-progression nights I will have a beer or something, I don't want to hinder my leading with alcohol. However one night I used my drinking as an incentive. I told them I would do shots if we got a boss down that we had been working on for 3 weeks, and they did, so I did. So I spent the next hour and a half gabbing away in vent while we were clearing bosses that we had on farm, and everyone had a good time.
This is the only way I can see for people drinking while raiding, making the person hilarious but who shuts up while fighting a boss and is somewhat wanted by a majority of the raiders. Situations like this though, and finding the right person, is very few and far between. However one night I am going to have to lead one of our 10 mans for a raid drinking game, see how far we get.
Apr 15th 2010 6:02PM Lets assume 100k of these mounts will sell. 100,000 X $25 = $2,500,000
For a cool little graphic that say 5 guys spent 2 days on (I really have no idea, but just a guesstimate based on absolutely nothing and hopes that it took that much cause if it took one guy an hour this would look worse)
8 hours x 2 days =16 hours
16 hours x 5 guys = 80 hours
80 hours +20 hours (meetings and such, random stuff to get paid for)=100 hours to develop the thing and get it to the customers.
Then lets assume they are paying $100 an hour
$100 per hour x 100 hours = $10,000
So yea, I think they are gonna make a profit. Good for them! I don't see how this is a problem now, but I think its a slippery slope to BuyItems2PlayWoW.
Apr 13th 2010 6:31PM If you are relying on consecrate to hold threat, you're doing it wrong. Would you rely on DND to hold threat on every single mob that went your way? Consecrate is a threat adder, not a threat grabber. HotR is the best threat ability available to multiple targets, and if you are having issues, glyph the sucker. If they powered up consecrate, every other tanking class would complain more about pally AoE threat and how it is awesome, blah blah blah. Consecrate sucked for grabbing aggro in 3.0, it sucks now, just tab cycle and spam HotR/ShoR/HW.
Apr 13th 2010 6:22PM You're number one solution as a pally tank is to pull more mobs!!
Having mana issues? Pull more mobs.
Healer getting bored? Pull more mobs.
DPS complaining? Pull more mobs.
GF griefing you? Pull more mobs.
Your dog just crapped on your floor? Pull more mobs.
The cops just broke into your house and tazed you? Pull more mobs.
Other solutions include:
Push less buttons.
Mar 11th 2010 11:09AM My interest in my 80 frost mage has been picked up with the new frost changes. Makes me want to actually wait in DPS queues (usually a tank) to pick up the last few heroic pieces I need then crush the meters with epic frostbolt goodieness. Plus, I always wanted a character with a pet, and I could never stand any of the other classes with pets, so a double win for me!
Mar 2nd 2010 12:03PM Would it matter? One should already be stacking all yellow gems anyway (except one nightmare tear), so what if they change it to red?
Feb 9th 2010 8:22AM If I were to draft a fantasy football Azerothian league team, it would have to go like this:
QB- Thrall (excellent leadership skills)
RB1- Chris Johnson (because he is the man)
RB2- Muradin Bronzebeard (even though he gets stuffed by Saurfang Jr.)
WR1- Varian Wrynn (has the ego to be a WR star e.g Chad Ochocinco)
WR2- Jaina Proudmoore (she can outrun the Lich King!)
Flex- Kael'thas (pretty much seems like he scores every outing)
TE- Velen (big and looks like he could run some routes)
K- Garrosh Hellscream (this is the only role I would trust him in :P)
D/ST- Draenei D/ST (big and agile, the sleeper D/ST)
Dec 10th 2009 1:53PM I feel your pain. I was in a PuG HoR run, and I am a pretty well geared pally tank. We get going along on the trash, and it is just a pain to pick up, the healer aggro is very prevalant in the instance! I would AS the mages, but with the daze they would not make it all the way where I was tanking the hunters/melee. Eventually they would get back on the healer, I would taunt, that would last like 5 secs. After the first wipe, we moved over to behind the first boss, so we could LoS the range. The problem is that the healer didn't understand what LoS was, so he was standing there, still getting shot. I would taunt, AS, still no solutions. The mobs weren't dying fast because the DPS was all AoEing, and not focusing on the healers. Sometimes they would pull aggro off of the consecration, because it has a limited range, and I have to move the mobs to pick up the hunter or mage that ported away.
We wipe a second time, and this DK with an attitude starts saying we're all worthless and we're not going to get this done. I link the meters, me at 3k, him at 2.3k, and the 2 others under 2k, and I said that is the problem. He then complained about the healer, I linked the HPS meter, healer was at 2.5k HPS, said that wasn't the problem. Then he said that his gear was broken when he first came in here and needed to repair. He was vote booted pretty quickly after that. We were also wiping on the horror movie phase because the DPS was AoEing, and I was having to worry about keeping the healer alive as well as the DPS not paying attention. We finally got through it when I told the 2 AoE fools to single target the big guys, and they actually listened to me.
I have been trying to get the fact that Consecration, Death and Decay, Thunderclap, Swipe DOES NOT EQUAL I HAVE UNLIMITED THREAT ON EVERY MOB IN THE WORLD INCLUDING MY GIRLFRIEND IN THE NEXT ROOM WATCHING DANCING WITH THE STARS ALL BECAUSE I USED THIS MAGICAL ABILITY, but they just won't listen. Maybe some Caps Lock is cruise control for cool is in order?
