Patch 3.3 PTR: Sound files may reveal fate of the Lich King {WoW}

Nov 4th 2009 5:25PM This reminds me of old pictures from before the release of WotLK of an item tool tip featuring Frostmourne. "Equip: You are the Lich King."

Or something like that.

Oct 1st 2009 6:44PM Wow, that thing looks silly as all heck.

I want it.

SK Gaming wins MLG Columbus {WoW}

Jun 7th 2009 11:40PM "Arena Tournaments could benefit greatly from instant replays, slow motion, and camera angles beyond the third person view."

These aren't available due to the limitations of the software. If a "spectator" player could be present, a la Quake 3, who could fly around the action on a non-player client to act as a sort of Camera Man, then that footage could be pulled down to a video source and played back. "Slow Motion" could be available if the client frame rate was high enough and the recording media was able to record on a frame-by-frame basis instead of a set 24 or 30 frames per second, but just the same it would need to be pulled down as fast as it's read from the screen to a source that could be readily manipulated.

Going forward, match recording similar to Halo 3 ought to be explored, live spectator modes should be considered, and options better than capture cards and cameras mounted to the monitors need to be developed if there's any hope of Instant Replays or Slow Motion Highlights similar to what we enjoy in major league sports coverage. Such things would pull resources away from developing the fun and balance in the game.

New Ulduar video from Blizzard {WoW}

Feb 25th 2009 3:30PM So... why does this take place in Hollow Bastion from Kingdom Hearts 1?

The music is almost note for note the same.

Breakfast Topic: What's in a name? {WoW}

Jan 15th 2009 3:14PM He just saw it spelled out on the screen, not by my pronunciation. Also, the internet being what it is, I'm sure he presumed that I was altering the letters so it wouldn't be immediately obvious.

Breakfast Topic: What's in a name? {WoW}

Jan 13th 2009 10:24AM I had a hunter once, and being thoughtful about the name, I ruminated on the idea of an arrow traveling through the air. I got hung up on the idea of it's deadly "course" and named it Coruse (which I imagined would be pronounced koh-ruz).

An anime loving friend of mine stared at me with a shocked loss of respect, and demanded to know why I'd named him after the Japanese word meaning "to kill." Despite my intent, the word hung sour in my mouth after that. I abandoned him at level 34, partly because this was when mounts were still held back until level 40, and mostly because draenei just aren't my style.

So when my girlfriend wanted to take to our World of Warcraft, I wanted a fun group name for the two of us and her friend. Seeing as Skuld was taken, but Veroandi and Uror were not, I threw in some umlats to keep the theme. I understand people hate alt and keypadding in letters, so I try to be as considerate about it as possible. Part of me hopes a GM will catch up with me about it, but screw it. It's just an umlat.

Authentication server and official forums down [UPDATED x10] {WoW}

Jan 9th 2009 5:06PM Logins? Up? Sounds like someone's on the sauce. Far as I'm concerned, login's are down like James Brown.

Authentication server and official forums down [UPDATED x10] {WoW}

Jan 9th 2009 4:56PM It's been cold on me since I got home from work. My girlfriend was playing from work until about 3:30, and she called me on her way home and swore up a storm when I told her that logins were a no-go.

So begins this Weekend of Warcraft.
