This was a warrior weapon. And warriors wouldn't have spellpower at all.

I can't speak for anything else he's written, though; my memories of DragonLance fiction are colored by a pleasant haze of adolescent naivete that I don't wish to disturb with reality, and after reading what I have of his excrement, I can't bring myself to read anything else by him.
