The Queue: Why it's not time for a warlock tank {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 11:26AM Is there any information on account wide achievements, titles, or pet sharing? I've just recently switched mains after playing for about 3 years. I've got a lot of work put into my old main and I got really excited about being able to share my companion pets and titles with all my other characters. I haven't read anything addressing that recently and I'm still waiting on a beta invite. What's the word?

Feb 23rd 2012 8:21AM I was actually really dreading this article. I feel like this need to post about MoP is silly when we're not really getting a lot of new information. You have, however, managed to make this not only entertaining with the Phil Colins metaphor but also insightful and thought provoking on a gamer level.

Much love as always.

Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 3:18PM The problem with derogatory language is that it is apart of the system that dehumanizes marginalized people. He's not a man, he's a faggot. That's not a lady, that's a tranny dyke! Maybe that's not exactly how the person who uses the words is thinking, but they are helping to perpetuate the REAL problems faced by minority groups. We're not being sensitive for our emotions, we're being sensitive to our rights to be full, complete human beings.

Words are not just simply words.

Jan 25th 2012 2:58PM If you're genuinely serious you can join the community by declaring yourself an ally. In my particular group of AlphabetSoup friends (LGBTQAI..) we proudly celebrate and include our awesome allies. They're as much a part of the group as anyone else because they have to suffer through being an Ally in a world that doesn't always understand their view point.

Also, it's not some grand tight-knitted community of all people who share alternative views on sexuality. There's plenty of internal strife and exclusion going on, just like any general group of people with one thing that puts them in common.

But please, come out of the closet and get some pride for the gay-loving straight lady you can be!

Jan 25th 2012 2:43PM I call crap on this one. Words are not just words.

Words have power. Words have implications. Words influence our perspective of reality. If you use a word like fag in a derogatory manner to put down someone else, that helps dehumanize the person. I'm not offended when someone says the word fag or faggot. I'm offended by the connotations that there's something wrong with homosexuality, which is implied by using these words in a negative manner. You can replace fag, faggot, and homosexuality with your own minority group words and it still works. We're not sensitive to words, we're sensitive to the implication of them.

Jan 25th 2012 2:23PM It is the duty of members in the majority to speak up for the minority, because the minority, by their very nature of low numbers, cannot alone bring about change to protect themselves. Every minority group in history has had to either band together with other minority groups or get aid from people in the majority group. We have to listen to that lone voice who says s/he's offended and listen to why. But we as human beings with a common, universal desire for the feeling of safety owe it to each other to listen.

Also, I think for an optional censor system, playing on the more extreme side is safer. If you specifically want to not have to deal with certain words, I think it would be better to include a large blanket of words that include some you don't care about, just to make sure it gets the ones that can hurt you. If you don't like the censor list and it doesn't bother you, then you don't have to turn it on.

I'm hoping for the customizable list in patch 6.#.whatever.

Dec 11th 2011 7:23AM I think it's important to have "bad Pandaren" because otherwise it's not believable. No group of people is totally good or totally bad. I love that each race in WoW has hero and villain representatives.

I can easily see a super xenophobic group of Pandaren that start attacking the outsiders and go all terrorist on the Horde and Alliance. Maybe a dungeon in a later patch? I'm excited to punch Pandaren in the face!

Dec 11th 2011 7:17AM Question 1. Is Anne Stickney a Naaru?

Question 2. I rolled a Tauren for the first time this week and was exploring Thunder Bluff. I went into the Pools of Vision and found it swarming with Forsaken. What's up with that? It's really creepy to be in the nature-loving Tauren Town and suddenly find some sacred visionary place over run with the walking dead. I get shunting them to the side but why the Pools of Vision? That seems like too important a place to let Forsaken take over.

Around Azeroth: Murky motivations {WoW}

Nov 21st 2011 10:48AM Agreed. Clearly WoW Insider has been compromised and now serves the murloc overlords. This bit of propaganda is meant to put adventures off their guard. Don't be fooled, the Murloc Menance must meet it's maker!
