Aug 11th 2011 4:16PM VanasKOS - Great "punks" replacement. It doesn't give you the dot on the minimap, but it does a good job of alerting. It has a hatelist and nicelist, and allows guild sharing. It shows the name, class, and level (as accurately as it can determine) of nearby players when it detects activity, and it does a good job of staying out of the way when you don't need it.
Jun 16th 2011 9:49AM Of course, the UPnP change won't help anyone who cannot download patches because they are, for example, on a college campus where the required ports are blocked to the entire campus. Blizzard needs to put in the capability to fall back to purely HTTP (port 80) in these cases.
May 18th 2011 9:40AM I always chuckle at the Samophlange chain. I loved taking my Holy Cow through there, getting ported 60' above Mor'Shan Rampart and having the goblin freak out, running around in circles yelling, "Help! It's raining Tauren!"
May 6th 2011 12:55PM The Azuregos/Kalecgos quest chain in Azshara is easily the most entertaining in a zone full of entertaining questlines. Just make sure you take the time to read everything and soak in Azuregos' cynicism and sense of humor. I lol'd. A lot.
May 3rd 2011 12:41PM Given that they swapped the numbers (5 seconds became 12, and 12 yards became 5) I think someone might have made a wee mistake when configuring the fight on Blizzard's end before the patch released. Could be just correcting a transpositional error, and this is actually how it was supposed to be the whole time.
Apr 26th 2011 7:20PM Thanks for the great article. My warlock has always been Destruction (although I've poked around with affliction a little bit as an off-spec), even when Destruction was nowhere near the highest DPS spec. I'm not a hardcore raider, so I guess I have this luxury.
I kind of like the way ISF works now because it makes the spec a little more interesting. Under 3.x, the rotation was too straighforward. There was no priority system or balancing act. There is at least a little of that now. However, I despise the insanely long cast time on SF. If I don't have Empowered Imp up or Soulburn, I can start casting, go make a sandwich, and come back and watch it fire off. I find myself never using Soulburn for it, because invariably Empowered Imp always procs right after I use it. So most of the time I end up letting the buff fall off because I can't stand still long enough to cast it, or some other reason (or I just don't bother).
My only other real gripe with Destruction is the fire. I WANT MY GREEN FIRE!!! Sure, Fel Fire is green, but outside of PvP and running around 1-shotting critters, does anyone seriously use this? Yes, it refreshes Immolate, but hits like a wet noodle. Talk about a tease.
One last comment, this one off-topic. Warlock class flying mounts have not been brough up in a while. I have a suggestion. 2 words: Fel. Drake.
Apr 22nd 2011 4:43PM "So you're saying Orcs are brainless war machines - and that's a compliment?"
While your reaction is a bit of an overstatement, he's not saying it's a compliment. He's saying that's WHAT ORCS ARE. Orcs are brash. Orcs are violent. Orcs value strength, not weakness. Orcs take what they need. Above all, ORCS will decide the future of the Orcs, not some outsiders.
Immersion in the story is great, but if you're going to immerse yourself please leave behind all preconcieved notions from Real Life about how diplomacy and human interaction work. It's about as useful as sitting here in our own world being critical of the way a wolf pack works, and saying they should be more peaceful and egalitarian. They're wolves. It's their nature, and you're not going to change them. If you don't like them, shoot them when they kill your sheep. No one's asking you to BE a wolf.
Apr 14th 2011 4:25PM Yeah, but if you take the time to blast through an 80 Heroic or two (and you don't really need a full party for this), with Cloth Scavenging you should easily be able to farm enough cloth for at least a couple of bags. Frostweave bags sell for around 200G on my realm. For me, that seems like a pretty good time investment, since at 85 it only takes 5-10 minutes to run a Wrath Heroic anymore.
Apr 5th 2011 4:06PM "Unfunny mage hatred that isn't part of the ongoing feud between the caster columnists and is therefore sad and desperate."
Please remember that this feud has been going on since long before there even WERE caster columnists. I resent you trivializing my petty battle with stinky mages!
Mar 30th 2011 11:23AM Stupid comment system. That was supposed to be a reply to Outis.
