The Daily Grind: What's your SWTOR class of choice? {Massively}

Dec 19th 2009 3:01AM At first glance I would really have to say I'd like to be a trooper or jedi consular.

But I also have to admit this choice has been becoming a hard one since the release of the sith classes. I mean look at them! one gets to go invisible, one get's to wield lightning like a blaster, and the last looks like a ninja on steroids.

While the jedi have..... well.... a cover system?

I'm going to be honest, but SWTOR is sending the message that jedi are a support group, while sith are a unstoppable uber alliance of badasses. I've always enjoyed doing the right thing and playing the underdog, but by this margin? The class choices themselves are going to cause massive faction imbalances.

After all who would you choose for your class if you had to make the choice?

Infiltrator (invisible) vs. Smuggler (hide behind a tree)

Bounty hunter(jet packs, rockets, blasters oh my!) vs. Trooper(die more ways then you can count)

Jedi consular (be a peace with the force ^.^) vs. Sith inquisitor (forced unleashed "the game")

Jedi knight (probably the jedi's saving grace) vs. Sith warrior (and there goes the jedi's advantage)

The balance of force in Star Wars: the Old Republic {Massively}

Nov 16th 2009 4:18AM If there is one thing that I remain sceptic about, it's this class issue with SWTOR. Sure it's always fun to have those "unique abilities", but not when you're on the receiving end. If I've learned anything about WOW's decision on shamans and paladins, it doesn't matter what the class does, it's going to be OP when you don't have it on your side.

It would be great if they could balance these types of things before the game launched, but from past experience, these things are impossible to balance.

Oh and there will be pvp don't you fool yourself. Did you think we were going to be in a galaxy far, far away deciding what color our lightsaber was going to be? Well maybe but the ONLY thing we'd be doing?

Sep 27th 2009 12:26AM @ Asraela

Thank you Asraela, your the one person that would give my post a chance before totally flaming it altogether.

Now on to business, you're right I do pay too much attention to damage meters, that's in part that everyone in my guild is doing the same thing at the same time, including my GM. If we do not meet a curtain standard then we are replaced, or worse sat out. I'm at my wits end, I've done everything from add-ons to paying thousands in new gems for roughly 100 spell power. And that standard is rising higher and higher for me.

Your next suggestion would be to find a new guild, two problems with that.....

A. no other guild on my server corresponds with my college schedule.

B. there are #2 alliance guild on my server.

Personally I envy you, if you are truly willing to overlook faults like this, I would almost ask you if you were recruiting. However the mean truth is if you want to do hardmodes there is no fooling around. Trust me I've been in 2 casual guilds and none of them bearly accomplished anything content wise, not to mention hard modes.

I didn't want to turn this into a shadow priest discussion, I mearly only wanted to point the entire story. However since you insist to see actually data then look no further then your primary example.

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/ZQedgmhETfyeAGPN/

your shadow priest was 11th on damage for the beast fights. and manages to score 8th for Anub'rak. Also the person you listed was jewel crafting + enchanting for maximum damage.

What QQing is for one person, is a intelligent complaint for someone else. Sometimes they are legit. Sometimes they aren't. The good thing about the forums is players are quick to challenge someone on something they got wrong.

Though I agree that QQing should be kept at a minimum, the thread GC responded to was filled with logical arguments. There was really nothing unprofessional about it.

Also maybe it wasn't shadow priests fault for this, it was the straw that broke the camels back :\. Already the forums have listed us as the cause.

Sep 26th 2009 4:17PM Also I would like to add I do not hate the guy whatsoever, this is a sad day for everyone both QQers and professionals alike.

The QQers just don't know it yet :\

Sep 26th 2009 4:10PM I know I might get lower then a star on this, but if you'd be willing to read my post, you might get the whole story on what transpired.

Adam I usually enjoy coming to this site, because it goes the extra mile to find out the cause and goes deeper into the data. However today it appears that you've stopped clean at that post and made assumptions that GC is in fact "flipping the finger". What you don't know is how this all started and who started it.

I don't know if you've noticed by shadow priests have been kind of low on the meters as of late. Not the "ZOMG 100dps LOWER! BUFFZ NOWW!!!!!1!11!", I'm talking about raid spots in jeopardy. GC had been quite about it for some time before (in another post) addressed that "shadow priests were fine".

(Warning: alot of this is heavily paraphrased)

Of course shadow priests were enraged by this and began to question why GC would say such a thing when so much data and logic has been given on our part. GC response could be summed up to say "evidence does not mean instant buffs", "this is our game and it is not your responsibility to dictate how it is operated", and ended it with a bang by saying " your evidence and opinions do not matter". Shadow priests still insisted that GC give a reason why he thought this way. Though he refused.

Later in a thread marked "Why do you all hate GC?" he made that comment. that you've listed.

So "adam" I suggest next time you please get the whole story before jumping to conclusions. Many people are innocent on this, other's not such much.

Breakfast Topic: What do you think of new race and class combos? {WoW}

Aug 24th 2009 6:28PM Sorry didn't mean it as accusing someone of "being gay or a girl or a hippe", just that I couldn't level one without feeling like one of the following. Watch Inventing swear words by Oxhorn for further clarification. Sorry if someone took offense to my comment I did not mean it in that way :(

Worgen druids, might actually put a good spin on the class (at least for alliance). Seems like you couldn't roll one unless you held the stereo type that you were.

A. gay

B. a girl

C. a hippe

Might actually make being a druid tough and manly once again........ mmmmmm beef

Dwarf shamans are also a nice addition, I know I'm going to want to roll one, no offense to the dreanei, but the males are butt ugly. which means you always had to roll a female shaman. There was like no contest. Now at least we'll have a choice!

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm targeted for a 2010 release date {WoW}

Aug 23rd 2009 2:57PM Well if you think about it......

Give TOC about 3-4 months and that will be around december that icecrown will be out.

Now if you gave icecrown 6+ months you hit around july where the expansion should be out. seems on time to me, also considering they've been working on this since WOTLK launch.

I know changes happen and all I'm just pointing out that their estimate seems about right.
