Sep 22nd 2010 8:18AM Farming... it would be nice to be able to grow my own little herb patch, or pumpkins or something.
Sep 19th 2010 11:18PM Maybe they don't want Holy Priests actually healing? Seems like they're adding a lot of damage producing stuff I would never have used as a healer... maybe some kind of Holy Mage kind of thing with some backup healing, instead of that being the primary job, perhaps? I have no idea what to think...
Aug 30th 2010 8:51PM That is one of the things I miss from MUDs and, heck, even NetHack. Not knowing how everything works together, not being able to just look it up. I guess that kind of group problem solving has gone off into ARG-land, but I wish that kind of thing would come back to Fantasy RP games...
Aug 14th 2010 11:41PM Why does nothing (Chakra, glyphs and so forth) affect Greater Healing?
Jun 11th 2010 1:12PM I think the real problem people have with Lightwell is that it's a spell. It's a spell with a really specific and limited use. Why is it a talent at all? Just make it a spell, already.
Jun 11th 2010 8:45AM I'm just continuously underwhelmed with the Cataclysm changes, I guess. For a 20 second buff that doesn't seem to involved Greater Heal in any way Chakra just seems like it should be for some other class... there just doesn't seem to be anything particularly, well, priestly about most of these things. Lots of damage related talents, one that makes you run faster? I just, I have no idea how they relate to playing a Holy Priest in any way...
May 18th 2010 2:24PM The World has lost much of its internal consistancy long ago, with NPCs existing at multiple places at the same time, and a crashed spaceship that has always 'just happened' such that the injured are still laying around. I think Blizard is trying to produce an RPG style feel where you play through a world that changes around you, but it's just the different zones change, not the whole world. They could fix some of this by having more robust phasing, but that seems like a very complicated solution.
I can sympathize with their desire to keep as much content as possible so as not to waste it, but it will be nice to see (most) of the world actually changing come Cataclysm. I wish they would do more of that.
May 13th 2010 8:38AM I always felt the honor system was messed up in this way. Surely continuing to fight hard to the very end in a BG you are almost certain to lose is more honorable than mopping up a disorganized and outnumbered enemy. I've been in BGs where we were heavily outnumbered by the better organized Horde, but everyone did the best they could the entire time only to be rewarded with double digit honor rewards and incessant kek-ing.
It's kind of sad that 'honor' somehow means being really good at ruthlessly slaughtering your enemies...
Apr 29th 2010 4:35PM I thought they were going to move away from healing as whack-a-mole. I was really interested to what they came up with. Given what we know already, while the rotations may change, healing will basically be the same as always, and priests will have a fancy new spell to do it with... "heal"
Oh, creativity, where are you?
Apr 11th 2010 11:36PM Yup, here it is... from an old Queue, I'll repost it here... not that anyone really will care one way or another...
What is the Priest's role in the world and in the game specifically? Are there plans to better formalize or change it?
As it is now, priests seem to suffer form a lack of real purpose in the world. Paladins are supplanting priests as the primary holy healers in battle (as was their original purpose, admittedly), and Warlocks and Death Knights are designed around the shadow spells and diseases that Shadow Priests seem to dabble in. This leaves damage mitigation as the sole unique role for priests to play in the world, as there are few instances of church business or outreach to which priests would be well suited.
It is, perhaps, more confusing as priests are the only class to have an armored analogue that can replicate every traditional power of the priest (healing, resurrection, and actually have a much wider selection of buffs) but has much greater combat utility and survivability (for example, there is no Gishy, armored spell slinger that can blast as well as a mage, and I suspect that creating such a class would cause an uproar).
As the Paladin has moved from a holy warrior that could sometimes focus his faith to heal to a primary battlefield healer, and the Death Knight has been given powers that actually appear to be Shadow Priest powers to any outside observer, there is less and less reason for the Priest to ever venture outside of their cloisters, and it becomes more difficult to explain their continued existence at all. Perhaps it's time to relegate them to an NPC only class, like merchants and trainers, and allow damage mitigation to be the pervue of the Protection Paladin.
Please don't take this as a complaint, I love my Priest, the character class simply seems superfluous at this point...
