May 11th 2009 9:36PM People whinge when they make Ulduar easier, and whinge when they make Wintergrasp harder. Hmm.
This change doesn't bother me at all. Hopefully it will improve performance, and really the loss of gold/honour rewards isn't a big deal. After all, gold is easy to make and the amount of honour from WG was really, super ludicrous.
When someone like me, a crappy pvper who spent most of my 15 or so WG's frozen due to lag and making NO contribution to my side can cap out my honour in a few weeks then that's kinda busted.
May 11th 2009 12:06AM This is a personal pet peeve of mine too. Obviously you're awesome if you take drugs, right?
Most of the people I know got out of that mindset after they left highschool, when drugs suddenly became a lot less cool.
If you feel the need to let total strangers know that you're on something illicit, to me that just signals that you're an insecure teenager who needs to grow up a little.
May 11th 2009 12:03AM It's cause the typical wow player complains about everything and anything, whilst maintaining the high-minded belief that they are capable of doing a superior job despite the fact that they work at Taco Bell.
I loved the article, and I'm quite capable of ignoring little mistakes and not getting my Grammar Nazi panties in a bunch.
May 10th 2009 11:59PM Hilarious... the amount of people who don't find this post funny shows just how true the 'average' wow stereotype is. Play on Blackrock... the degree to which this forum post matches the PuGs you will encounter is spooky.
I laughed at it anyway.
May 5th 2009 10:52PM Wow. Seconding that.
And B, jeeze dude I had no idea you put in so much work. Thank you for truely being the MMO Champion!
May 5th 2009 1:08AM I say hurray for the Ulduar tuning changes.
I don't buy it when people say that 'all the fun is being taken out of the game' because they're making it easier - this implies that wiping is the best part of the game and really just makes you look like you're full of shit. It's exasperating in the same way that a child carrying on about how easy he finds his grade 3 homework is.
I agree with Dave. When you're fighting RNG, disconnects and your own guild, how hard a boss is doesn't even factor in. Perfect execution should be expected for hard mode, but for normal mode I think it's unrealistic for their new raiding philosophy.
Apr 21st 2009 10:03PM Haha, we got 1 boss down in my naxx-25 geared guild...
Apr 21st 2009 9:58PM It sounds like raids are an absolute feat of endurance for this woman, I would be interested to know why part fo raiding makes all the (I'm assuming) pain and difficulties worth it?
How do you explain to people why your reaction times might be a little slower than normal? How do you deal with the inevitable idiots that think you're just putting it on as an excuse?
This article was definitely a wake up call to those of us lucky enough to never have to worry about these things. Lileya is an inspiration to everyone, and her dedication and patience show the true strength of the human spirit.
Apr 21st 2009 9:01PM epsilon343 I hate to say it, but you're asking for an oxymoron. You want a 'challenging' instance but you don't want it to involve random elements or heavy damage?
Tuning Ulduar so it requires ludicrous amounts of healing, fast reaction times, self-and-raid aware DPS, inhumane enrage timers and unforgiving trash is how they MAKE encounters challenging.
Things were easy in Naxx because everyone had room to make mistakes. In Ulduar, not only can you not make mistakes, you need to be able to react fast enough if one does happen to prevent a wipe. It's tighter tuning, and those things that you described as 'random mechanics' and 'other factors' are what make Ulduar hard.
But I totally agree that any boss with a 'randomly kill player X' ability is silly, and wiping on a boss all night even when everyone is putting in 100% is crap. I'm sure Blizzard would agree, they've seemed a little unsatisfied with overly-RNG player abilities.
Mar 24th 2009 2:25AM Hasn't the warrior reaction been livid on the wow forums... I've seen a few awful posts be deleted.
