Apr 7th 2009 3:53PM As much as I would love to take the time to respond to everything that was said to me as I feel some of you have very valid points and I am interested in further pursuing some of the research behind them I am going to respond instead to Vandell because you were the least tactful about it and that sort of thing gets me going.
1. Just because you devalue animals doesn't mean it isn't a disgusting practice. And my living space has nothing to do with my values as a person. I don't think poor people should be allowed to steal either.. but sometimes they feel they have to to survive. I know the world isn't pretty but any means neccessary just because it is the only option you think you have isn't ok it is ignorance. These people aren't killing them to survive they are doing it as a job and the people they are doing it for are in it for the profit. Big difference.
2. I am not quick to throw away lives I think Newfoundland is severely lacking in its options for people to receive proper training for jobs that can improve their lives and i think improvement there would be hugely benificial to them. If it isn't tradition for traditions sake then there should be no shortage of people willing to learn new skills. I am not saying this is easy or even likely but that is a much broader topic about Canadas government. I know they can't do it on their own.
3. There is nothing whimsical about greener energy and if you want to talk backwards progress talk about disregarding new energy sources just because they don't offer an immediate resolution to the problem. Even the research of new energy sources itself is an industry worthwhile.
4. Yes I have been there and I saw more than rocks and shorelines. I have no desire to assauge your outrage because Idon't care about you. I said it because I believe it. I said it because I wanted to make it clear that what i said was because I like it there and want it to be a better place. thats it.
So please get your head out of your ass and stop victimizing people who are a lot more capable than you give them credit for.

I can see what you mean there but that is almost entirely to do with the manufacturing process and not the long term running of the devices themselves. I haven't seen anything that indicates they are anything less than substantially better for the environment in the long run than for example fossil fuel burning. In any case we are getting a bit off topic as I was just using greener energy as an example of an alternative industry.

what chemicals are involved in wind or solar energy? If you are reffering to something like ethanol i understand but there are plenty of options that don't cause the level of harm of current practices. I've done plenty of research.. maybe I'm missing something you could shed some light on?
Apr 7th 2009 2:34PM I know PETA make some shady decisions but this is a real problem and a disgusting practice so I'm glad it is getting attention.
Newfoundland can come up with other ways to make money that don't involve the gross mistreatment of animals. Just because an industry exists doesn't mean it should no matter how many people it employs. There are other industries that could use more focus such as greener energy which not only could give people jobs but also promote a better environment. And with a better environment a place like Newfoundland (which is a great place I will add) would benifit greatly as its natural beauty is its best feature.. not its brutal practices.
Mar 4th 2009 7:43PM If you don't consider WoW to be "decent" you should probably try doing something else even if a "decent" game doesn't come along.

Always useful in more ways than I expect.
Mar 4th 2009 4:44PM I think its pretty clear in all forms news doesn't always have to "matter" as long as it is entertaining. And a lot of people find stuff like this entertaining.
