Feb 4th 2011 5:51PM Hey, just my 2 cents on the piracy issue.
I'm a game developer myself, I have to be concerned about the issue of piracy, I like making money, and if someone's stealing a game I wrote, It is at the very least, a potential loss.
That being said, for the first few years of WoW being around, I refused to play (mostly because I figured I would get hooked), but at one point, I was convinced by coworkers to try a private server one had set up.
These coworkers had time spent in other MMOs, doing high end raiding, so before spending their money on the game, they wanted to see how instancing worked.
I just went along with this up till this point.
The main problem with the 10 day trial in my opinion are the limitations that have been imposed. The best part (and of course sometimes the worst) of WoW is the interaction with others. The trial limited this severely.
Since none of us were subscribers, we could not party together to try that part of the game.
We played on a free server for all of 1 week before everyone bailed to pay for the real game, and so I followed, and now I've played for 3 years.
I'm sure there's a reason to limit this functionality, but I argue that the 10 day trial is a far cry from a true trial of the game with the limits in place.
TL;DR: 10 day trial limitations hinder truly trying the game.
Sep 24th 2009 2:22PM Got mine this morning at 3:15am, just after server reset. It's amazing!
Sep 16th 2009 3:24PM Oooooh! I want one!!
Aug 28th 2009 4:33AM Yeah, I'm on Whisperwind, I actually talked to Falah, he seems relatively repentant, tho i'm sure this is because of all the flack he's gotten, and all the blacklists he's been put on :P
Jan 7th 2009 5:59PM I'm both happy and sad about this. I like the benefit of quicker mining with this, but at the same time, I'm one silly bastard that hasn't had the good sense to save up enough money for my epic flier yet (I know, I know, i'm working on it).
Often times when I am out trying to farm up a bit of ore in Schol, i will often be beaten to a node by someone on an epic mount (i don't have a problem with this, they saved up for it, it's their right), but typically i'm able to get to the next node before they are done mining their node.
With this new mechanic, assuming no mob clearing, someone on an epic flyer could be done mining and remounted in a matter of about 6 seconds, giving them ample time to beat me to the next node.
I'm not sure it will cause a big problem, but it could make it hard to compete.
Jan 7th 2009 5:37PM I think you might be misunderstanding the change. I believe the change means that if I find a node that would drop 3 ore, I only have to mine it once to get all 3 ore (in other words, instead of there being 1 ore each of 3 swings, there will be 3 ore in 1 swing)
Dec 22nd 2008 10:26AM Agreed completely. I have several friends on different servers that i've wanted to play with for a long time. Problem's always been that they are high level, and i'd have to roll from scratch to eventually play on the same level as them. Nice thing about the dk restrictions being lifted is that i'll only have to grind 55-80 instead of 1-80.

I accidentally chose Frenzyheart, the last quest, i accidentally picked them :P Oh well. Is it sad that I actually felt a little guilty when the Frenzyhearts kicked me out and said i betrayed them?! How did that happen, they're jerks!
