Mar 1st 2011 6:35PM Whoops, forgot to add...
I'm also not super crazy about TC because it makes it harder to distinguish between a healer who is using it more as a crutch and one who is using it as a carefully-implemented tool. The focus this expansion is supposed to be on choosing the right spell for the right job, but with TC someone could more easily get away with going OOM quickly (using completely ineffcient spells) and then filling their bar back up with LBs, which in turn puts more pressure on the other healers in the group.
Obviously this problem isn't likely to occur in high-end raids with experienced players, but there are a lot of folks who just read the talents and assume they're supposed to be doing things a certain way without any further research.
Mar 1st 2011 6:25PM My issue with TC isn't so much how it functions (when used in appropriate situations)...
In my experience, there are always a few healers around who are "closet DPSers" - aka, they secretly have no interest in healing and would rather be DPSing. This talent basically gives them an excuse to forget their responsibility as a healer and focus more on "leet LB spam" instead of keeping people alive.
Obviously this isn't the talent's fault, but I still find it annoying. I have to put up with this in my own guild groups as well; we have a holy paladin who abuses the heck out of his instant-exorcism talent, and winds up slacking on heals all the time because of it.
Oct 9th 2010 2:28PM Oh, MW works with Hex too. Forgot about that.
Oct 9th 2010 2:27PM I was about to ask this too, then I checked the beta talent trees. Apparently at some point (which is news to me), Lava Burst was removed from the MW talent. So (beta) MW only works with Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, and heals.
Oct 5th 2010 7:50PM I fully agree with Snuzzle here.
Cata or live, the idea that you just /have/ to get out that Earth Shock asap because it's /that/ important is just ludicrous. First of all, it's only on a single target, so in multi-mob situations it's going to make a fraction of a difference to begin with. Add to that the fact that the tank themselves can and will (if they know how to play) be applying their own equivalent debuff within the first 5 seconds or so of the fight.
Sorry, but I don't buy the recommendation that you should be potentially putting yourself (and/or your party) in danger (no matter how mininal the risk) for an absolutely miniscule damage reduction on the tank that could probably be negated by a single Healing Stream tick. If you want to buff your next heal for some reason, either wait until the tank has secured aggro and then shock, or just use Unleash Elements (which would likely be a lot cheaper mana-wise anyway, depending on the following heal).
Sep 23rd 2010 4:19PM It's been stated by Blizz numerous times that the DPS-heal hybrid talents are not meant as a guideline for serious Cataclysm healing. They're for PvP, as well as specific unusual circumstances when no damage is going on in an encounter, or when people get to the point where they outgear the content and healers have nothing to do otherwise. In fact, GC recently mentioned that most encounters are supposed to still require a constant spam of heals from healers, more or less.
To give a shaman-specific example, Telluric Currents is supposed to be a 'fun' talent more than a 'mandatory' one for mana conservation. I just wish certain beta healers would calm down over these talents and stop trying too hard to force DPS spells into their 'rotations' because they think that's how it's 'supposed' to be. I have nothing against trying out different combinations of spells, but this whole 'you HAVE to DPS while healing' is just grating on me. People aren't listening to the CMs.
Sep 18th 2010 7:48PM So, if worgen can only ride other faction's mounts in 'human form' (as we seem to be assuming), what about flying mounts? Following the logic of 'worgen won't look right/fit on horses/cats/etc', wouldn't they be forced to ride pretty much any kind of mount (including flying ones) in human form? That's incredibly, incredibly lame.
Personally, I'm not too crazy about this, as 'cool' as running around on all fours sounds. I think I'd get tired of it quickly... and then have no option to use another mount (save going around in my dorky human form all the time - which I would roll a human for, if I wanted that experience).
Sep 7th 2010 8:25PM I strongly agree with this comment. I'm in the beta, but druid isn't my main class, so I haven't been able to provide much input myself. However... looking over the class forum, it's really hard to find any feedback for resto druids. Or even druids in general.
Aug 26th 2010 7:02PM Healing Rain is definitely not instant-cast, as this article states. It's got a 2-second cast, which is listed in the tooltip.
Otherwise though, thanks for bringing this topic up... I think these new spell styles are something the healing community as a whole is going to have to work together to figure out. Can't say I'm crazy about placing more responsibility on the DPS to stay alive, though.
Aug 24th 2010 3:30PM This is baseline for all shaman... my enhance-spec beta character just learned Healing Rain from the trainer a couple of days ago.
