Oct 27th 2009 9:25AM Gameplay...gameplay...gameplay! It was the smooth style of zones, quests, raids and the fact that it can be played on a run-of-the-mill PC that caused the initial boom. Five years ago Sony Online's EQ was the MMO leader, but it was full of small zones with seemingly constant zoning and very few quests. It didn't take long for entire guilds and two-thirds of the EQ population to migrate.
As for a game that could replace WoW, I would put my money on the NextGen MMO Blizz is working on.
Oct 20th 2009 6:02PM I didn't worry about the fastest possible way to get the achievement done. I decided a better approach was to duo the Trick or Treat acheivement with exploration. It's not the fastest approach, but it is the most efficient!
Oct 10th 2009 9:44AM With the release of Cataclysm, WoW will somewhat touch one Holy Grail. Old world as we know it will be forever changed.
Cataclysm might also be the perfect time to add a true "Holy Grail" quest line. Since Blizz is recomposing old world, why not add a long, legendary quest chain that goes from level 1 to 85and ends with the reward of a legendary item? At certain levels, a player could attain an epic weapon and at max level, you would be rewarded with a legendary item. It would be no ordinary quest. It should take you into the depths of instances, rough open-world battles, make use of tradeskills, and incorporate PVP. It would not be achieved by many. But those who did succeed would receive a title, the legendary weapon, and other nice things such as emoted "salutes" from NPCs. If an expansion is added, then the quest chain should update as well.
