Dec 17th 2008 4:29PM I totally agree with you here, druids. I don't think the problem lies in the way your class works, but in the way the game was designed around other classes. It was designed without bears in mind.
I have a mage and a paly. My paly used to like healing bears the most, but with the "random" mechanics largely gone, their advantage is diminished.
My mage should be topping DPS meters with mad AoE. I don't, because only 90% of tanks can AoE tank. So I speced frostfire, which is useful 100% of the time, but sucks at AoE. I'm really annoyed with how much AoE there is in WotLK, and I'm a MAGE! I can't imagine how druids and classes like rogues are dealing with it. (I dunno, unless that fan of knives thing is more awesome than I realize)
Either make every tank an AoE tank and admit this is an AoE game, or scale it back.
Dec 16th 2008 4:45PM It's funny.. many of the same people who were complaining about "welfare epics" are now complaining that PvP is ruined for them now, largely because getting gear is now too competitive.
I sympathize, though. When I started, I was all about PvP. I had the gear, and a decent rating, and I had fun. This season, I don't think I'm going to try. I LOVE the competition, but I'm too frustrated with my classes weaknesses.
Based on the huge hits (9600 dmg ambushes/pounces.. ret palyage) my mage is taking, it doesn't look like it's going to be fun. I'm pretty sure that 2s will be dominated by melee classes and classes that benefit from the healing/SP change (ret palys for one). I've never done/don't want to do 5s, but that's my best bet at this point as a clothy. Priests look like they're going to get screwed too, even as disc.
WOTLK converted me from a hard-core PvPer into a raider. When I'm not raiding with my guild, though, I have trouble finding an open DPS spot for heroics. If I get bored with raiding, that'll be it for me.
Dec 14th 2008 4:24PM Tanks do a lot more damage than they used to. I might lose to an AoE tank on overall damage as a frostfire mage, because my AoE spell (singular) sucks mana. I usually top damage meters on heroics and raids, so I'm not really concerned about it.
My point is that my "training dummy DPS" is 2500-2800 depending on duration, and I still might lose in overall damage to an AoEer. This isn't BC.. tanks do a lot more damage than they used to. We can return to the old mechanics if you want. (Points at the nerf hammer)

Dec 7th 2008 2:03PM I was wondering about the same thing with this spec. Mages are split on the last two points, but we need the extra crit for pyroblast. Also, I'm pretty sure imp. fireball (but not imp. frostbolt) decreases the frostfire cast time.
Note that this spec has 2 extra points.
Some people put it into flame throwing, others into AoE talents like dragon's breath, blast wave, firestarter, or improved blizzard. Personally I went dragon's breath + 1 firestarter. I also saw someone spec into shatter. It really depends on what you're doing.
Since this is my raiding spec, I didn't want blastwave's knockback, but I was getting crappy AoE numbers (mages = king of AoE... if you're willing to be the suckage of single target) so I went dragons breath and 1 into firestarter
Dec 5th 2008 2:21PM A lot of people were whining about how easy raid content was before they had even done it, only because some of the hardcore guilds had downed all of the bosses within a week. I include some WoW Insider topics in the whining. ("Is WoW too easy?" They asked over and over again in 5 different topics)
It's easier, but it's not like you can yawn and kick your feet up as you coast through end-game raiding content.
