Dec 14th 2010 4:15AM A thought in two parts...

Can the bombing run quest be done on the x-53 Touring rocket allowing lower level non flyers to do this quest?

Can you turn the x-53 into a reindeer and still carry two people?

Breakfast Topic: What we don't know {WoW}

Oct 20th 2009 10:36AM Keep in mind that Scott and Randy only publish their podcast once a week and often they are discussing the previous weeks changes. Often their show lands slap in the middle of a Blue announcing changes and the patch notes getting updated making the "fact" fall into rumors and scuttlebut as a possibility.

Also things are only live when they get shipped with the updater. Just because a change makes ptr notes or even patch notes doesn't make it true until you're there in game playing the change.

Back on topic my best experience of "wow you can do that" was with a dear friend of mine and her husband. All three of us were early lvl 30's and camped up by the river shore on the duskwood / westfall border. They went off IRL to get pizza and I struck up a camp fire, got my rod out and fished up and cooked some food for us for when they came back.
On their return and after the trades they offered to reimburse me the money I had spent until I pointed to the river and told them that Elune had provided the fish and I had cooked it. I was met with a stunned "What do you mean you can fish and cook?". That made my day, only to be ever topped by the same friends husband (a rogue) asking why my blades were dripping green. "Let's go do your poisons quests shall we?" was the only appropriate response, even at level 50!

I love that the game, no matter how complicated with its stats and end game raiding can provide so much awe and wonder to some people.

R.I.P Prayerbane, Elune guide you... and show you the cooking trainer ;)

Breakfast Topic: The best city for shopping {WoW}

Oct 16th 2009 8:05AM " Stormwind has its advantages. You do have to wind between buildings a bit to make it back to the AH from the mailbox"

Not now the mailboxes have spawned many offspring. there's one right outside the door.

I actually quite like Darnassus. Yes there is a bit of a run but it's empty and that's a bonus for a gnome banker that normally has to stand in a see of knees.

Aug 24th 2009 9:35AM Sorry.... RNG random number generator for those of you not speaking acronym.

Another way to show how secure these little things are, enter the number from the photo 778645... aint gonna work :)

The Queue: Nuts and bolts {WoW}

Aug 24th 2009 9:32AM That is worrying but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The authenticators RNG is tied up with an authentication server and the numbers are in simple terms time stamped. Basically if the number entered doesn't match the number currently on the authentication server then you wont get in. Write a generated number down 10 minutes before you log in and try logging in with that, pretty sure it wont work as the number is no longer in the correct "valid time frame".

If your authenticator number could be plucked out of cyber space then the thief would need to log in at that moment to use it. You'd experience a "You've been disconnected from the server" error and the second you log back in you'd kick them. One way to test this, try logging into the same account from two separate launches of the game, you'll get a nice game of disconnected ping pong going.

Being hacked is for the most part due to lapse in concentration of the user downloading a bad file, not having AV software, giving out secure information. The authenticator is simply a buffer between these lapses and the bad guys out there. They are not the golden cure to being hacked but they really do help.
