Blood Sport: The PvP perspective on new talent trees {WoW}

Jul 19th 2010 10:23PM Simple solution... PVP-only specs/trees with all different talents, that cannot be used in PVE. As well as PVE specs that can't be used in PVP.
Zone into a raid instance, heroic or what have you, and you are automatically switched to a PVE spec and can re-spec to one of your Dual-specs.
Zone into a PVP raid, BG, Arena, and you are switched to your PVP spec (maybe even dual specs for those too)
Would be a lot easier than the headache of balancing all these abilities around 2 different types of gameplay and nerfing the crap out of our PVE specs/abilities because someone manipulates them for PVP-gain.
World PVP would stay as whatever... use whatever spec you like. Its world PVP, unregulated as it always has been. This system would make world-pvp even more survivable, if you could farm/quest in your PVP spec on a server where being ganked is a constant threat.

IgroMir 2009: Goblin gameplay footage {WoW}

Nov 22nd 2009 6:33PM Great, we got to see some guy turn in a bunch of quests, then look at the map, while another guy jumped and ran away from a mob repeatedly. This is possibly the worst gameplay footage I've seen from any game, as it shows us nothing really interesting. No look at melee combat and a nauseating view of ranged combat from someone that would rather jump than kill things.

Why loot drama happens (and how to prevent it) {WoW}

Jul 31st 2009 12:37AM A sense of entitlement isn't a fictional thing. It can be earned. If you show up 1 week out of every 3, why should you outroll someone who was there for every single week? Do you expect a 'Company Car' and a reserved parking space when you go to work as a Temp at some office? Oh, that's right, the Salesperson that has worked there for 10 years gets those things. Just because you spend some part of your day on the 30th floor, doesn't make you entitled to the same things as the people that work there all day.
I would hope that analogy will help drive the point home... but it is the half-ass, "I'll attend a raid when I feel like it" players... that have the sense of entitlement. Therefore, you won't ever get the point... put more work in, get more out.

Why loot drama happens (and how to prevent it) {WoW}

Jul 30th 2009 7:37PM The people that have an issue with dip and would like a /roll system, are the deadweight that wouldn't get gear in a dkp-type system. Dkp rewards those that show up... Only reason you should have issue with dkp, is if you wouldn't get loot in such a system. In which case you can only blame yourself for wanting loot that should go to someone who put in more time than you. Selfish people are the ones that favor a /roll system, putting their needs above those of the guild.

From our readers: Always a DPSer, never a tank {WoW}

May 18th 2009 12:36PM If you tank well, you can join a guild and work your way up. Even if its only in tanking Heroics or Naxx/Maly/OS. People like a good tank, and will try to make sure a good one is on the front lines in progression.
Like was previously stated, it was most likely your attitude towards others that prevented you from being anything more than a DPS. Guilds have systems for loot, but that doesn't mean favorites aren't played. If you are rolling offspec and still not getting loot... it probably goes back to your attitude.

The Queue: Hodgepodge {WoW}

May 14th 2009 4:07AM Is Blizzard going to add more worth-while items purchased with Emblems of Heroism? Badges of Justice were good all throughout BC and people farmed Heroics up until the end. Now, its very hard to find Heroics or put them together. Fewer people are actually running them and raid-leaders insist people be "geared" which is hard to do on Regular instances (also not run very much), crafted items and BOEs. Frozen Orbs and Rare Gems aren't motivation enough for people to farm Heroics, and most people have all their alts decked in 4 different BOA items. Couldn't they make a Heroic drop 1 Valor Emblem, or make Valor Emblems available to purchase with 10 Heroic Emblems?
