May 17th 2011 10:09PM The amusing thing is that if Blizzard simply never developed the RDF, the mobile AH, the mobile Guild Chat, there would be nothing to complain about. We would all be Blizzfully Ignorant, and would continue paying our $15/month as long as the "real content" (ie, PvE and/or PvP) interested us.
This isn't PvE or PvP content. These are additional "meta" services that are in general simple conveniences. It's on the level of the guild perks that people from small guilds are still raging about as being gross unfair because the large guilds will get them faster/easier/etc etc.
It's also no different from the hot new whining about Dragonwrath being only accessible to toons that are part of a stable raid guild. Everyone should be able to get an orange shiny yo!
I just got back from giving RIFT over three months of run. I'm glad to be again paying for a game where stuff, on the whole, just works. The worlds aren't devoid of players, there is no queue to log onto my well-populated home realms, the game economy is vibrant, the PvE content while not perfect is plentiful and continues to evolve, I have complete control over my UI, and the developer deigns to come down from their ivory tower to converse with the player base to an extent.
In the end, your only real vote is to vote with your feet. Go play something else if you truly feel that you're being insulted by not being given every single service, new or old, free of charge. I've gone that route after being annoyed by Cataclysm.
With the seeming onrushing demise of Cryptic Studios, the gradual decline of WAR, the uncertainty of AOC and the current chaos in RIFT, I'm glad for the stability and certainty of World of Warcraft. I've had my fill of AAA titles that can't deliver steady stable content and administration, and guarantee their survival past the next year.
Mar 25th 2011 12:40AM You forgot the $25 Sparkle (TBH) Pony, and the upcoming TBL. Hey, if you have 99 mounts...
Feb 28th 2011 8:15PM It's probably more to make it obvious that you've used it in Arena/PvP.
Feb 10th 2011 8:46PM Now due to Mat's prolific evangelization of all things addon, I have around 50 various addons installed and in use on various toons. Managing the addons is becoming a time sink, especially after a patch. Is there an addon to scan all your addons and notify you if there's a new version for download? I know that programs like Curse's installed and WoWmatrix do that, but there have been rumors in the past of these programs being security risks, and I don't want to risk using them despite having an authenticator.
So, how do you all keep your addons up to date? :)
Feb 19th 2010 5:11AM Both the faction head enchants and the Hodir shoulder enchants are now Bind on Account, so if you have an 80 taking care of your baby SPriest and that 80 already has the rep with the appropriate factions, your baby SPriest can get his head and shoulder enchants before stepping into her first heroic. :) Love the work High Priest Fox, continue to punt the gnomes (they can't be priests anyways).
Jan 26th 2010 9:32PM Whoops also should mention the Abyssal Rune from HToCh. Easy to farm, no on-use, haste buff and spellpower proc. Better than the Sundial/Pocketwatch for an elem shammy.
Jan 26th 2010 9:21PM Vigilant Ward (Anub 10) is a resto-oriented shield with MP5, but given the dearth of spellpower shields most shammies with no access to 25-man raids will be using it for both resto and elem specs.
Jun 9th 2009 12:07PM It's art. It's subjective. Blizz will never please everyone.
I for one think that the graphics upgrades for the NE cat is fantastic. It looks like I'll start with the white, then switch to the black, but will eventually cycle through all of them. The are is sleek, and the cats look like night elf cats, bands, bangles and all.
The Tauren cats are a nice upgrade over the old model, but I don't like em. Is why I rolled alliance in the first place. Horns? A nose ring? On a CAT? Ick. Besides, a cow turning into a cat is very strange to begin with.
Wow players, especially those that have the inclination to read and post on the official forums and here at Wow Insider are the squeaky wheels of the Wowverse. I'll bet most players will be pleased at the graphical upgrades that cats are getting, and won't be QQing over the things that they want but didn't get.
May 12th 2009 3:38AM Geez all these DPS numbers flying around are generalizations. If you know your toon, then you'll know if you can pull your weight in a heroic or raid.
Looking at Naxx, there are lots of fights where your DPS will be incomparable to what you can do on a cookie-cutter encounter like Patchwork. On my mage I decurse on fights like Noth and Sapph (and note that there are mages that never bother). I run to Frost Nova the dog food on Gluth. On these fights my dps is in the 2ks. On Thaddius and Loatheb, and Malygos phase one, and on the trash in between Noth and Heigan dps of 8-10k. The rogues do 14k.
Translation: Your DPS numbers, thrown out without qualification, are meaningless. If you want a true indication of raid contribution, link a full WWS of a Naxx run. I roll my eyes at the "I do 3k dps" people.
Mar 19th 2009 12:09AM We're all always wearing pants. I think you mean you want a robe instead of a tunic. Those are both chest pieces. :P
