Aug 3rd 2010 12:49PM I know this anxiety all too well. My prot warrior has been in several guilds, but none that have lasted long enough for me to rotate into the raids. As a result, I have no raid experience. I am as geared as I can get without getting into raids. I am forever stuck in the land of heroics and would like to get into raiding, but no one will give me a chance so I tank with an "I'm not sure about my tanking" mentality. Which is odd cause I'm a confident "em-effer" in RL. SInce I'm bored with heroics and yearn for 10man content, I might play a couple times a month, so my tanking can get rusty. I get that anxiety you speak of. I don't like hearing "You Suck!!!" and I will usually tell them good luck finding another tank and drop out, close my chat and continue until everyone leaves or until the instance is done. Its tough taking verbal beatings when you are doing your absolute best. I'm a decent tank. Not a great one, but I can usually hang in there and get the job done; Except however, Heroic HoR. I have nightmares. I go online and watch videos. I read strategy guides. But every time, I've failed. Not a very good confidence builder. So everytime I get Q'd for it, I leave. I can't handle that kind of pressure in my life. Every other heroic I'm fine with but HoR makes me want to get on Xanax. I actually think tanking anxiety has prevented me from playing. I only really have one friend who plays so its not like I can group with people I know and try out 10 man content. Its sad that the majority of people playing on the two servers I've been on don't give me the chance because of my lack of exp. because that actually contributes to the anxiety factor in a roundabout way. By the way, this may make me sound pathetic, but because of this anxiety, I never ran a heroic in BC. I had no confidence. I know I'm better than I think I am, but all it takes is a few wipes and a handful of harsh comments to make any tank call his therapist.
Here's some good advice from girl tanks:
Feb 10th 2010 12:30PM My main is a tank but when PuGging was all the rage I got quite discouraged by the powermonger DPS classes that would blast mobs with their most threatening attack before I even dropped a sunder. Several times I saw Omen numbers come up that a dyslexic would see as a perfect balance of threat. As a result I put the tank to rest and leveled a rogue to try and learn the ways of the force from a different perspective. I am very aware of threat and do excellent at leaving it all for the tank. So the other night I'm in a heroic group as DPS. About 5 minutes in the tank tells me he's pretty sure his ungeared lvl 60 rogue could out DPS me. I told him I'm pretty sure that in RL he was a douché.
Great tips for DPS here. Its too bad not everyone plays with this in mind.
May 11th 2009 7:10PM Hmmmm....seems to me that if they are going to nerf the glyph from 3 to 1 seconds they should probably change the name from Glyph of Rapid Charge to Glyph of Charge. Taking that 2 seconds away takes all the rapidness out of it.
Feb 18th 2009 1:43PM My (soon to be disbanded) guild RockemSockemCowboys on Stonemaul had some recent drama when one of our officers (ZombiegodX…Remember the name. He's a weasel and a half, three quarters even.) stole an estimated 4000g worth of loot and mats from our 4 bank tabs, left the guild and started up a new one, furnishing them with all our stuff. A week or so prior I personally formed groups to run him through some instances to get him gear up a little. "Apparently" he had been recently hacked and they sold all of his gear. I think he's just a dishonest…explicit deleted.
