Lichborne: Analyzing the proposed patch 4.3 death knight tanking changes {WoW}

Sep 6th 2011 8:34PM I still don't like the issue of blood tanks' reactive heal actively overlapping with the healer's job.
If a tank takes a big hit, and their health drops low, the healer(s) will most likely bomb a heal (and possibly even pop a cooldown). If the tank then death strikes and regains a chunk of health, then the healer either overheals, or has to cancel at the last moment.
If the relationship between healer(s) and tank is good, then the healer can develop a feel for when the tank is likely to be able to death strike, but this is still reliant on rune cooldowns, tank positioning, etc.

Of course the other issue with reactive healing is that if the big hit kills the tank, then there's no reactive healing to be had, whereas a mitigation-based tank would still be alive.

Reactive healing (death strike) as a core mechanic of the tank just seems like a generally worse deal than passive/active/reactive mitigation (shield block).

Breakfast Topic: The tanking shortage {WoW}

Dec 4th 2008 6:05PM One thing that bugs me is that people want on-spec healers. I'm leveling as Ret at the moment and can heal well. None of the groups I've healed for have failed to complete a run, and I've had no complaints. Keristrazsa is doable as ret, final boss in UK is simple as long as people move out of the range of his spells and you avoid the silences. Hadronox is the only really painful fight I've healed as Ret, and if I'm solo healing and dispeling I'll almost always lose a DPS or two.
But a lot of groups that are looking for healers (and there are a lot of them) won't give off-spec (geared) healers a try, even if it means they sit in /lfm for 2 hours.
And let's face it, Sheath of Light is awesome for healing. People should be more open minded. Take the player not the class/spec :P

Breakfast Topic: The tanking shortage {WoW}

Dec 3rd 2008 5:11PM @Jedirawr:
Feral tanks don't need Defense, take a look at Survival of the Fittest = crit immune.
And Agi > Dodge, while dodge gives better pure Avoidance, Agi gives threat (through crit), armour and in a raid setting (Kings) gives better overall avoidance as well.

On another note, I don't like pure DPSing anymore. Tanking or healing well is much more satisfying, since it is a slightly more demanding job. I prefer smooth fast runs, to topping e-peen dps meter readouts that wiped multiple times.

On thing I have noticed is there's a lot of "LF1M healer, gtg" in chat, especially for Utgarde Keep. During peak times in Howling Fjord there will be at least 1 group in this situation.

Nov 12th 2008 7:31AM Done much arena as a hunter?
And DoTs don't cause pushback.

Shifting Perspectives: Let my kitties go! {WoW}

Nov 12th 2008 7:23AM YES! Get rid of the chimaera look and close the mouth.
It's totally worth a minor Glyph.
But some minor Glyphs do actually have an impact, my favourite being Glyph of Revive Pet (prevents knockback when casting Revive Pet).

Wrath 101: Level 70 PvP gear {WoW}

Nov 10th 2008 11:09PM My current arena toons will stay at 70 while I level a DK, and since I can probably easily find a partner (one of my friends' stalled 70s) I might invest the few hours a week to grab some extra arena points.
After all, most people will only level one character at a time, and leave the rest at 70.
