Jul 21st 2010 12:28PM Sounds like Nefarian will be taunting us throughout BRC much akin to his spectating in UBRS or his mouthing off after Vael.
Shouldn't some new black dragons be showing up sometime soon? Fiery young upstarts ready to prove granddad that they don't die nearly as often as Mom or Uncle.
Jul 14th 2010 3:26PM I have no idea what that means. So......thank you?
Jul 14th 2010 3:14PM Massive in depth post somehow became one sentence.
Jul 14th 2010 3:09PM Speculative nature of Beta acknowledged.
Jul 9th 2010 3:37PM No corporate PR department will let you say such definite things.
Either a) it's idiomatic of Mike Morhaime. Just a phrase he likes to say.
b) Whoever drafted this was given the instruction to stay away from wording that says, "We will never try anything like this ever again in any form, and keep this statement ready so that if we ever do you can mock us for going back on our word."
The idea of increased social interaction through battle.net isn't a bad idea. The *implementation of this model* was the bad idea. Perhaps, "at this time" means, we're going back to the drawing board and we're gonna try something else.
Or perhaps it's just telling you when they made the decision and everyone is waaaaaaay over analyzing a thrown away phrase.
Jul 9th 2010 3:16PM People are getting worked up over phrasing now? "At this time" is just a form of language you use when you make announcements like this. It means nothing. If they were going to try the same thing at a later date, that would be pointless. They will probably try some version of "real ID" again, perhaps with unique cross character/game avatars, but not this form. Otherwise backing down now would just be silly.
I'm very happy about this. Blizzard came through as a company once again. They're still gonna try new business models, but this should remain a testament to "if you don't like it, we won't do it."
Jul 8th 2010 5:24PM Pretty sure this wouldn't be technically possible unless they restructured the entire hardware of the game. At best, you would be able to play on a different server within your battlegroup, but on the list of things likely to happen, this does not appear.
Jul 8th 2010 5:10PM Most of the crafting upgrades and enchants scale naturally despite the stat overhaul, but I wondered about belt buckles. Has there been any indication of going a different route with the buckles or will there be an upgraded version that provides some type of stat in addition to the extra gem slot?
Jul 8th 2010 1:18PM Honestly, what on earth are people attached to?
Currently, as a level 10 warrior that wants to be arms you have three options. Reducing the cost of your Heroic Strike by ONE. Increasing your incredibly low chance to parry by 1%. Or you can increase the damage your Rend ability does by 10%. Game changers across the board. Blows your mind how awesomely that talent point changes the way you operate. Mobs just eviscerate themselves rather than face your amazing Rend.
So at an end game, you want to get all you want out of your tree, plus you want the good things from another tree as well. I'm guilty of this. When DW Prot was discovered, I was excited. Of course, this was not Blizzard's intent and they wound up nerfing what procced Deep Wounds. Well, here's a new idea. Let's put some talents in prot that are useful instead of doozies like Puncture.
Obviously, we're gonna get cool new things. Heroic Leap doesn't have me all hot and bothered, frankly it's just another charge I have to find a keybind for, but its something. And it's not like this will make us weaker relative to the overall game. Tuning isn't done with the idea that you have no spec. It will just make things different and hopefully more streamlined.
