Jan 13th 2010 3:06PM I think it's just cheap and rude to sign up for heroics for a role you have no intention of filling, just to quickly get it done. At lower levels, when a handful of talent points and sprinkling of gear, it doesn't really matter if you're Ret or Prot. In ZF, I healed as an Ele Shaman, with Ele gear and Ele talents. However, this is NOT the mentality you go into heroics with, especially stuff like the new Icecrown heroics.
Of course, there's a difference between that and someone signing up that has the spec, wants to fulfill the role but doesn't have the experience or any gear. You can't tank the new heroics in DPS gear with absolutely no experience. (Well, you could, assuming you're an exceptional player with an exceptional group... but that's an extreme case and you could probably only hold out for a few seconds.) I have no problem helping people learn if they try to make an effort to prepare.
Hell, I had okay tank gear and a good tank spec on my Paladin and I got H PoS for my daily random the other day. I mentioned I hadn't tanked it on heroic yet and the healer was very helpful, giving me advice about when to switch auras and who I should be focusing on first.
Not everyone is so helpful or willing to listen to advice, though, which I can understand. Anyway... Do your research, people! Don't be jerks. Have some common sense... Please?
Jan 7th 2010 9:01AM I agree with the people who are saying they're concerned about someone using the drums at the wrong time and giving everyone a debuff. Not only that, but I've noticed that people are really not situationally aware when it comes to raid composition. People will use the Fort scroll when we have a Priest with us... or they'll use the Ghetto Kings when we have two or three Paladins. I know you're trying to be helpful, but nothing's quite as good as the real thing. :P
Jan 2nd 2010 7:30PM Wow, that's pretty crazy!
Dec 25th 2009 11:55AM Entered! :D
Dec 18th 2009 7:58PM I'm so sorry to hear that you're leaving, Mike. I really enjoyed listening to the podcast, as you and Turpster had quite the rapport. You will be greatly missed.
Dec 6th 2009 12:47PM I don't really think it's that excessive. It's nice that they offer these options to begin with, as not every game does. The fact is, you don't HAVE to pay them. Just don't get them. If you're passionate enough about something (like changing your name or your race), you have to realise that nothing is ever free. Except the 7-day-trial. >_>
Nov 25th 2009 12:19PM Yay, I like books!
