$40 Million Estate on Broad Beach, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Apr 28th 2010 4:50PM Where do you park?

Poll: Selling the Celestial Steed is... {WoW}

Apr 15th 2010 4:21PM I feel straight up blackmailed: Blizz is telling me I either pay them their $25, or I accept having to fly around on what are now all the inferior-looking mounts available from in-game efforts. The result for me is I am now embarrassed to own either kind of mount: I don't want to be driving what will come to be seen as the clunker in-game welfare mounts, nor do I want to be driving the nice mount that might as well have a bumper sticker saying "I helped turn WoW in a Real Money Exchange game".

And based on the success this is getting, we can expect a lot more to come. Even if blizz continues to restrict actual functionality to in-game rewards, I can imagine a future where all your armor and gear will look crappy if you don't pay the "optional" fees to buff each piece of gear with the "make it look cool" cosmetic buff offered only for real world money.

Addon Spotlight: Vuhdo {WoW}

Jan 30th 2010 10:53PM Thanks for the detailed article and the many screen shots. Call me greedy, but I would have found it even more valuable if there was a summary calling out the major pros and cons compared to other common solutions like Grid, Healbot, etc.

The 1st and 3rd screen shots are very blurry on my screen (I'm using Firefox on Win7.) Not sure if that's just me or if there's something wrong with the images.

Bang & Olufsen's BeoVision 10: something awesome in the state of Denmark (update: video!) {Engadget}

Oct 19th 2009 1:48PM Ludicrously rich or not, hopefully all Engadget readers know how to get themselves a 40" HDTV + speaker for well under $71,000 (and even the corrected $8,700).

Playxpert brings Twitter, web & more into your favorite MMOs {Massively}

May 2nd 2009 12:47PM I don't get it. My operating system and the many web / performance / IM / twitter and other applications all already provide this functionality. What does "PlayXPert" bring to the table and how is this any sort of breakthrough?

Eagle's Nest, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Mar 14th 2009 9:59PM "Eagle's Nest", as in the name of Hitler's vacation home? I'm not sure if the house featured in Band of Brothers was intended to be the a realistic reproduction, but if memory serves this house even looks sort of similar (but it's been a long time since I saw it.)

Is this some sort of extremist white supremacist community?

Insider Trader: Who keeps the shards? {WoW}

Mar 7th 2009 12:53PM Healtuff said:

I say "Hey, can I take that for my offset?" And nobody usually objects. Then, as soon as I'm out of group, I DE it for mats. Simple enough.

Could be just me, but I find this more objectionable than any of the other ways of handling it discussed in this article. You're calling that "simple", but what it really is is lying. Players of good character are happy to give you the item because you need it (even if the need is only for offset spec), but really you are greeding.

I don't care much about the shard / 5g vendor value one way or the other, but like many people I have little use for folks who lie to others for their personal benefit.
