Your name suits you.
Both VI and VII were great games, but neither were the be all and end all to JRPG's, or the FF series. It's called nostalgia, and you're blinded by it.

None of those featured true non-linearity, the kind we see in Dragon Age or Fallout 3. Sure, you could hop around from town to town but if you wanted to actually progress the game and story, you had to follow the path the game laid out for you. Look at Dragon Age, for example. Every quest has different endings and ways of completion, very rarely does the game force you to do anything.
The fact that the first 6 hours of FFXIII is pretty much a straight line doesn't bother me at all. For one, FFX was pretty much the same way, but more importantly it tells me that the developers meant for you to have a very specific experience. Now wether that experience is any good or not, remains to be seen.
Dec 24th 2009 10:57AM Nothing out of the ordinary - no FF after VII has launched without hordes of fanboys bashing it. The main criticism is the linearity, though I hardly consider that bad for a FF game.
Dec 24th 2009 10:48AM Still waiting on my import copy to arrive... All the hate it's receiving is strangely making me even more excited.
Dec 18th 2009 6:23PM No matter how good a game they make, it will never compare to FFVII in your, or anyone who originally played the came when it came out, eyes. Why? Nostalgia.
Comparing current games to decade old hits is an exercise in futility. If you played it back then, you'll be skewed by nostalgia. If you didn't, you'll be skewed by not playing it at the right time (i.e 10 years too late).
Bottom line, stop comparing every single JRPG to FFVII. Ultimately it's just gonna ruin your own experience.
Dec 18th 2009 6:12PM Meh, ME2 is gonna be great but I'd rather have me some good old JRPG action.
Nov 11th 2009 7:54AM I'm inclined to agree with Courtney and Morisato. You can buy insane amounts of ethernet cable dirt cheap. Add a little duct tape and you won't even trip on it!
Nov 1st 2009 2:22PM The Sphere Grid was by far my favorite FF leveling system. While it set every character down a specific path, you were never forced to pick a specific skill. And after you finished a characters "part" of the grid you were free to choose which one you would do next. It wasn't perfect by a long shot, but definitely my favorite. A re-tuning of the Sphere Grid would be amazing.
I just got even more excited for FFXIII... If that's even possible.
Oct 29th 2009 9:45AM Hmm... Okay, worth a shot I guess. Always wanted to try this out but could never bring myself to spend enough time in Windows to install it. I'm gonna get downvoted now...
But if it runs like most other PC to Mac ports, I'm out.
