Sep 21st 2010 7:52PM Old content is old. I have 5 80s. The day they started allowing the Tome I mailed it back to my Shaman who was just starting Northrend. I actually quested in HF that time around, I hated the experience of that zone when I was stuck with a ground mount.
This is the same as people griping about epic land at 40 and normal mount at 40. The game has been out almost 6 years, things change. They will probably be reducing XP costs for the Northrend experience as well, which they should. Why make people slog thru Northrend when the stuff they really want to show off in after it (and before Outlands as well).
Stop being nostalgic for restrictions that were there just to keep people from capping longer and enjoy the change for what it is. Cheaper and easier alt leveling.
Aug 23rd 2010 8:32PM Actually I think most of the suggestions sound most like early SWG (pre-holocrons and NGE anyway). Ridiculously deep crafting systems, everything in the game was player created, player cities, etc. The 2 MMOs I actually paid to play are SWG and WoW. SWG was great for awhile, but everything SOE touches turns to shit.
Mar 2nd 2010 9:58PM Blizzard has stated that you will not be able to use Reforging to convert a stat to a stat that is already on the gear. So stam/int/spi/crit/hit cloth you would not be able to convert +hit into Int. You could convert it into haste tho.
Feb 9th 2010 2:18PM I've been saying May for Cataclysm for the past 6 months. This just points toward winding up the content quickly and moving on.
Jan 19th 2010 8:08PM If the new tesselation features in DX11 would allow Blizzard to not have to actually re-do any art, but have it all automatically scaled up, I would consider buying a new vcard. The character models need updated badly and it needs to default to whatever your system can handle. Then you can choose old or new in the menu.
Jan 5th 2010 3:49PM 17 5 mans (Maraudon and Dire Maul were added in later patches) and 2 raids (Molten Core and Onyxia) were all in at launch for WoW.
WAR and Aion both try to focus much more heavily on the PVP side of things (Aion claims PVPVE, but the PVE is anemic) and at launch EQ2 and (I believe) DDO didn't allow PVP at all.
Then again, I don't enjoy PvP, so I wouldn't buy those games anyway. I decided to try the Aion beta anyway and got a blue screen while installing. I took that as a sign and deleted the installer.
Jan 5th 2010 12:42PM Earth and Beyond was released in 2002. Development may have started in the 90s, but saying it is a game from the 90s is a bit much. Hell, we know dev work on WoW started in the 90s as well.
Jan 5th 2010 10:43AM The article tells us to give games a try at launch and not stress it so much. Well, if I just spent $50 at launch for a game that is buggy and/or unfun, I have every right to not go with the flow and just cancel it. If the game still exists in 6 months or so and I read they have fixed a lot of the problems then maybe. That usually doesn't happen tho, by then the game is either shut down or the userbase has dwindled drastically.
MMOs are like OSes, wait till the first major service pack :)
Dec 23rd 2009 10:28AM In the future, please link to decent articles abouts about a class. That Frost DW DK writeup is terrible. Spreading bad information is worse than people having no information
Dec 17th 2009 11:00AM Please blues, give us a "Shut the hell up Arthas!" edition!!
