Dec 27th 2011 8:55AM Usually have sympathy but not this time - having been on many runs where NOTHING drops I can use, I am always grateful if get ANY pice of useful loot. You rolled without knowing the rules, they told you ah its one pice of loot per player, to which you SHOULD have responded 'ok thanks - glad to get the wand then' and left it at that. Now people see you as greedy - which may well be a misjudgement but wouldn't have happened if you hadn't banged on about it. DS resets every week, you could've run with them again to try for more 'stuffs' but I doubt now they will let you back in. Remember to engage brain before opening mouth next time.
Dec 19th 2011 11:45PM So far TOR has been a large dollop of fun. I love the game world and the character creation, but as others have mentioned the game success, or failure, will be measured in its longeity not its initial peak. I say this as a vanilla WoW player - doubt I'll grow really tired of WoW as I have many years (typing that made me groan out loud..) investment in it. I do however see TOR as a good game, worth sticking with, at least for the first 6 months, to see how it plays out. For now, I am a happy customer, looking forward to more game time. There are a few bugs of course, but when WoW came out it was buggy too - people tend to forget this when they wear their nostalgia glasses.
Dec 14th 2011 5:10PM Matticus' list is very good but he missed one that I had the misfortune to run into today; hopefully this type of perosnality is so unusual though that it wouldn't make a list. this guy, lets call him, 'Profession Pete', spent the ENTIRE raid (yes, all the fights) prosepcting ore. That's ALL he did, although to his credit he also managed to avoid standing in stuff. He was eventually kicked, on the last fight, but the sheer cheek of him doing that instead of actually playing properly (he was a healer btw...) astounded me.
Nov 27th 2011 7:11PM Time is less of a circular pattern because it is, in fact, a big mess of wibbly wobbly timey-wimey...stuff.
Couldn't resist that either :)
Great column as always.
Nov 6th 2011 9:46AM I really really hope the LFR tool doesn't suck as much as the LFD one has for things like heroic mode dungeons. During Wrath (and I am a vanilla player btw not a wrath baby) I managed to gear all my alts and loved doing the dungeons on LFD, even though yes there were a-hats to deal with - at least I only needed to suffer them for about 30 mins. Come Cata and I'm forced to spend HOURS in some instances and my love for my alts dwindled. I just got my main geared enough to raid with the guild, doing as many runs with guild as possible and gritting my teeth through the LFD groups. Then I stopped. My alts remain badly geared (rep gear/created items) and have basically become farming toons. I also don't spend as much time in WoW as I used to except to raid because I just can't force myself to go through LFD heroics and deal with awful people soley to get gear for alts.
Nov 2nd 2011 6:06PM Fave worgen names (from a funny point of view) - Volksworgen and Worgenfreeman - still make me smile.
Oct 26th 2011 2:14PM Thank you nonentity for linking wowcrendor's submission - I liked it a lot :)
Sep 8th 2011 6:16PM For the pet/mount addon I use Livestock (can get it off Curse) - and like it a lot :)
Sep 8th 2011 2:49AM Actually the most fun thing I ever did with my SP was MC an ally who had become stuck in Thrall's throne room after a failed 'For the Alliance' (yes back before Cata) and I MC'd him onto Thrall's lap. I often muse what must have been going through his little dwarf mind as I sat him gently down on the revered shaman-leader just as the MC ran out and he turned 'hostile' to the guards again....
Aug 31st 2011 12:33PM @Narlic - the point of our little 'help package' was to get him to consider an opinion OTHER THAN HIS OWN. Next patch if there are changes we expect him to ASK if his dps is pants again as he now knows there are people in guild (or outside it) who can help, and who also notice the numbers he is putting out. Before this he said consistently that his spec and gems etc were 'fine'. Now he knows they weren't fine and has a better understanding of his talents/gems/chants. He's a decent guy, we like him and didn't want to boot him unless he continued to refuse to change.
