Blizzard responds to common Real ID concerns {WoW}

Jul 16th 2010 10:49PM You may be surprised, using the facebook friend finder I found out I had 8 friends that played WoW that I wasn't aware of before. We'd just never talked about games.

Ubisoft 'always on' DRM hated, hacked - circle of life continues {Joystiq}

Apr 23rd 2010 4:04PM World of Goo also sold quite well, that 90% piracy rate is not relevant.

> They made a profit.
> They didn't waste any money on DRM.
> They didn't anger the gamers with crap DRM.
> Some people will have pirated and later purchased the game, not every download is a lost sale.
> They created good will with gamers.

Do you think that those 90% would paid for the game if it had DRM? No, they'd have cracked it and pirated it anyway.

'Epic' StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty Collector's Edition announced {Joystiq}

Apr 8th 2010 6:53PM From the press release...

"StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty's solo campaign will continue the epic saga where it left off in StarCraft: Brood War. The storyline chronicles the exploits of marshal-turned-rebel-leader Jim Raynor and features both familiar faces and new heroes. Players will be able to tailor the experience, choosing their own mission path and selecting technology and research upgrades to suit their playing style throughout the 29-mission campaign."

They have also said and it's been report about a 1000 times that each part will be about 28-30 missions, but clear 90% of the people posting on this story have reading, comprehension or memory deficiencies.

'Epic' StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty Collector's Edition announced {Joystiq}

Apr 8th 2010 6:38PM Oh for heavans sake for the 10000th time the Terran campaign in Starcraft 2 has 29 missions, this is just one less then all three campaigns in Starcraft 1.

From the press release.

(StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty's solo campaign will continue the epic saga where it left off in StarCraft: Brood War. The storyline chronicles the exploits of marshal-turned-rebel-leader Jim Raynor and features both familiar faces and new heroes. Players will be able to tailor the experience, choosing their own mission path and selecting technology and research upgrades to suit their playing style throughout the 29-mission campaign.)

The next 2 campaigns are expansions and need the orginal game, they are not stand alone. They will be at expansion prices (or Activision's version of such) and will have 28 to 30 missions as well. All race are available in multiplayer.

All that's changed here is you're not getting 3 short campaigns + 3 short campaigns + 3 short campaigns, you're getting 1 long campaign, 1 long campaign and long campaign.

I understand the complaining about the higher price for PC games and the lack of real LAN, but what the hell is everyone's problem with this? If The Frozen Throne or Brood War had been announced at the same time as Warcraft 3 and Starcraft, would you be complaining about that as well?

Bloody hell people!

Feb 21st 2010 2:55PM Wrong you are, Warcraft 2, 3 and Starcraft have player hosting. Battle.net just does the match making. This is normal.
