Jul 9th 2011 9:04AM No more MMOs...I never played MMOs...and WoW only got me hooked, because I like the games Blizzard makes and was a HUGE fan of Warcraft 3...wanted to see the story progress, etc. and now I love the game...6 years baby...

If WoW shut down tomorrow...well I'd be happy and sad at the same time

Happy that I can finally use my time to play more other games
Sad that I won't see the story continued for now and that there are no more raids, and not all my toons made it to max level :)

Jun 10th 2011 5:40PM As a professional translator I love this article. People tend not to understand what the difference between simple translations and localization's damn difficult and it usually takes at least double the time to do it properly. Jokes are insanely difficult. Been working on the German localisation (a bit) for Portal 2 and that game does not consist of anything other than friggin jokes...

Personally I play WoW in English, because I don't like the German localisation (I am German apparently), but I doubt it would be possible to do it so well I'd actually consider switching to the German client. It just feels off...If a German wrote a fantasy novel it would be still be 100% different if the same novel was written by the same guy with the same ideas, only that he was say American, or just have a different way of writing...of background...things that influence the story...

Oldschool WoW Players in Germany still say "Felwood" or "Stranglethorn Vale" instead of "Teufelswald" and "Schlingendorntal"...or "Black Rock Spire"..."Schwarzfelsspitze"...I don't doesn't flow...

Anyway if you consider going into localization a degree in languages might not be enough and a company who has some sense will only hire native speakers and not even foreigners who have lived for several decades in the country they're localizing to. I speak English fluently...I can translated German to English without problems, but I could never ever do serious localizations properly. Just a word of advice, the industry is brutal...deadlines are extreme, you're going to be pushed around and you might need to make decisions you don't want to (like length restrictions or client wishes)...and it's not even that well paid. ;)

Before 4.1 = 8 Mastery rating (which brings me to about 15 now)
After 4.1 = 2 Mastery rating (which would leave me with 9)

Someone do the math I'm too lazy right simply means you will need a lot more mastery to keep the stats you have right now, but by doing so you would probably gimp yourself, because you would need to neglect other important stats like strength, crit or (behold) even hit now...

This expansion seems strange for us...when the Cataclysm hit, everyone was screaming at your face to rush to the hard hit cap as far as possible...I was at about 23% hit lately...

Then 4.0.6 dropped and suddenly fury warriors were "supposed" (according to theorycrafters) to just stay at the hard hit cap for specials...not use HS at all unless you did not know what else to press and had about 80 rage...

don't get me wrong that's fine with me...but the constant changes to the class are getting tiresome...I spend more time regemming, reforging, reenchanting and in elitist jerks forums (or somewhere else) to determine what would be the best solution...and then a few weeks can start over again...

I don't think the flurry buff will ever make it to life (especially not with the new precision buff) is predestined to turn us into hideously overpowered monsters when concentrating on crit...maybe not in T11, but in T12...I'd say that crit becomes once again the predeomint stat on gear (apart from strength ofc) and et voila we are back to spamming heroic strike again. At least there would finally be an incentive to even consider using Inner Rage...(it was pretty useless at first, and is even more useless now...why would I want to reduce the cd on hs by 50% if I can't even afford to use it every 3 seconds on a regular basis...maybe with bloodlust, but even that is hard to pull opinion)...

I think Fury damage is "ok" as it is least on the level that I am playing (11/12 bosses on normal). I spend a lot of my VP on tank gear so I'm missing out on quite a bit of DPS gear and still I can hold my own most of the time...

Thank god that this is the PTR and nothing is set in stone yet...I would take the flurry + precision change ofc if they made it live...but they are just calling out "nerf me biatch!"...

I dunno I stopped PVP mid TBC, because the requirements to pvp seriously were just ridiculous. You probably shouldn't have a life if u want to be good at raiding and a competitive Arena PvPer...BGs don't count cuz u get obliterated without arena gear, i.e. resilience and I don't even have room for another set (PVE, tank & then PVP? 0o).

I think things got a little better in WotLK but not much...I haven't found myself pvping a Vanilla that was almost all I did...and I owned with my semi professional PVP gear...(legionnaire)...until the Harcore raid grps joined in the fun ^^

But generally speaking what you should do as a Arms Warrior in PVP.

Increased range and reduced cooldown on Charge, as well as the talent obviously.
Get all the hp regen talents u can grab (second wind etc.)
Charge enemy
Slam (if ur still in range by that time)
Switch to zerker
Rinse repeat
Use PVP trinkets and WotF (for undead) and berserker rage
Never forget Pummel ^^

From the numbers I'm seeing on Monsters you should be able to bring any caster near death with 2 MS(OP/Slam Combo due to resilience

Please note that I haven't tried it lately, but in theory that should work...Mages are (were?) hardest much snare, but with the reduced CD on charge and with intercept + the stuns you might even stand a chance...I remember warlocks being the easiest targets...I only died to Curses after I killed them...always...zzz

Oct 18th 2010 4:45PM Different groups of ppl play different types of WoW...if every1 is on the same line that's great...but if 8 out of 10 ppl want to progress and that progress is impossible to achieve because of 1 or 2 players who simply won't learn (I had a mage in my former guild...who got a lot of items shoved up his ass...cuz no one needed them anyway...but he never improved...he was at say 3k dps...when every other mage with way worse gear was at 6k ish dps...or the holy paladin...whose only way of playing was standing still, casting greater heal, and calling "oom" after 20 secs into the fight...or not being able to collect more than 2 clouds in the valithria encounter...ever) you either decide to continue to drag these ppl along...or you get rid of them...progress...if you are a social guild and you don't care about progress...that's fine...but I have yet to meet a person who does not want to's's like having a football team and losing every match 0 - there any fun in that? ;)

Oct 18th 2010 4:39PM Your point may be totally valid, but you have to admit the truth. WoW-Players ARE (mostly) gimps (in a game sense)...My guild is currently in ICC25 hc...and even WITH DBM...players are too stupid to do things right...often enough...Personally I would not need DBM most of the times...IF I can focus on myself...however, especially healers can't and some other players who either lack the skill to concentrate or have to watch out for the raid (again healers...tanks...sometimes at least...and the infamous raid leader...guess what that guy is most of the times a tank or a healer...or me least in my other guilds)...DBM helps reduce the Chaos in a 25 player 10 man mode it is barely necessary if you know what you are doing...for some heroic encounters it's almost mandatory...

The thing is...the bosses don't make you can only achieve that by yourself...and that means you + the 24 (or 9) other ppl in the raid...sometimes it's enough if one fails to cause a wipe...

e.g. the sparkly orbs in the blood council encounter...Yogg Sarons' clouds (and more)..Sindra's ice tomb...those are mechanics that wipe your raid if only 1 player does not pay attention for 1 second...that's what DBM is my opinion...
