Mar 26th 2012 1:27PM The main tank in my guild during Wrath would say the word "adherent" as "ADDER-rent". Like a snake with an apartment. Drove me nuts.
Mar 8th 2012 5:51PM @Wut:
Miss: I swing at you. You don't move. I miss.
Dodge: I swing at you. You move. I miss.
The fact that the end result is the same doesn't mean that there's no difference between the two events.
Feb 10th 2012 3:47PM Really? Learning everything all over again is one of my favorite parts of a new expansion.
Jan 31st 2012 12:35AM I came in here to post exactly this. The "covering for their own inadequacies" bully account for a tiny, tiny minority of all bullies, but they make really compelling antagonists in cheesy prime-time crime dramas (I'm looking at you, CSI: Miami), so that what most folks think of when they hear about bullying.
I was bullied in high school (not as bad as some, worse than a lot of others), and I can say from experience that the "covering for their own inadequacies" bully basically doesn't exist in stereotypical bullying settings. The kids who bullied me were universally popular, well-liked, socially competent, and self-confident, and mostly had pretty stable, functional home lives. They were also arrogant, selfish, lacking in empathy, and didn't care if they hurt people whom they considered their social inferiors (or visibly enjoyed it).
These studies that clundgren mentions (three or four done over a span of 10-12 years, that I know of) have shown that bullies tend to be sociopaths and/or narcissists (or even outright psychopaths, in the clinical sense of the word), rather than emotional weaklings who transfer their self-loathing onto others as some kind of psychological defense mechanism, as the conventional wisdom claims.
Jan 6th 2012 5:20PM Amen to hating happy-feet tanks. A few weeks ago, I had a tank start to kite Murzond. Not just turn him sideways, but actually backpedal kite him around the outside edge of the Dragonshrine.
Jan 3rd 2012 2:06AM Well, then it must be working differently for different people, then, because I've been able to roll on artifacts regardless of whether the character I'm playing has an Adventurer's Guide.
Jan 2nd 2012 9:20PM It was hotfixed, but I didn't notice exactly when. You used to be able to roll need on them, too, but now they're greed only.
On a related note, I seem to remember that Boubouille datamined an achievement on the 4.3 PTR that indicated there would be DMF artifacts coming from archaeology, too. Was that a thing, or am I misremembering? If it was real, was there any official comment on why it wasn't implemented?
It's too bad that didn't go live. That would have been a nice addition to the profession, I think.
Jan 2nd 2012 8:13PM "You'll have to roll against other people to score these artifacts, but only against those who also hold a Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide."
This isn't right. As long as someone in the party has an Adventurer's Guide, everyone can roll on the artifacts. I've won more more artifacts on my alts than I have on my main, and none of them have guides of their own.
Dec 20th 2011 5:20PM I think that movie theaters should kick their patrons out before the climax of the film unless they've spent the previous six to eight weeks watching the first two acts of the movie over and over and over again. If you're not willing to put in the time, you don't deserve plot resolution.
Dec 15th 2011 5:19PM In the limited testing I did with it (in both target dummy and live-play situations) before selling it back to the VP vendor, Sigil was noticeably weaker than Vial of Shadows even if used on cooldown.
