AddOn Spotlight: WoW UI Updater {WoW}

May 11th 2007 1:12PM @3, the site claims the program is written in Python, using wxWidgets for the UI. This means it should actually work on OS X, but probably isn't tested, and you'll likely need to use the Terminal to launch it.

Boys that Play Girls that Play Games {WoW}

Aug 1st 2006 2:40PM If you are really "open to other ideas", then maybe you should first answer the question "why don't you play a character of the opposite gender?".

The Way of the Warrior {WoW}

Feb 14th 2006 2:28PM This guide contains some errors, such as "a bow or gun requires you to give up a bag for an ammo pouch or quiver". (No, it doesn't. Standard bags can hold ammuintion just fine, you just don't get the speed bonus that ammo containers provide. Since you use the gun only for pulling and bullets stack 200 at a time, you give up one extra bag spot, not an entire bag.)

In general, the WoW wiki's Warrior Tactics page ( was more useful for me.

New to WoW: A few basic tips {WoW}

Dec 16th 2005 12:41PM Another point: your rank 1 spells are not necessarily useless once you learn rank 2+. Rank 1 spells usually have nearly insignificant mana costs at high levels and faster cast rates, making them very useful to "spam" (cast over and over repeatedly) in an effort to trigger some larger effect (usually made possible from a talent). For example, mages have a talent that gives them a chance to enter "clearcasting state" each time ANY spell is cast. In this state, the next spell they cast is basically free (i.e. no mana). It sometimes makes sense to spam a cheap fast spell to get into this state as quickly as possible. There are other examples (for warlocks, in particular).

Dec 16th 2005 12:26PM Read (and contribute to) the "tactics" pages for any class you play on the WoW Wiki. For example, if playing a shaman, look at ShamanTactics ( Also, learn what the Perfect Zone of Ultimate Safety is and how to use it (

Most Irritating Quest {WoW}

Dec 7th 2005 12:33PM Not sure if the Mage quest in the Blue Recluse tavern is still bugged, but it was the least fun I've had on WoW ever.
