Jun 30th 2009 8:44AM My God, so much WHINING its unbeleavable.
Its not a faction TRANSFER its a character SWAP! (Even though for balance purposes it has no more of an impact than the original realm transfers)
Its no different to just rerolling on the other side, and transfering what you can over the neutral AH, only this time in return for giving up your original character, you get a DK-like Level bump, and get to transfer everything, including soulbound items, without the goblin tax.
No one complains about 'turncoats' or threatens to quit when someone just starts a new character on the opposite faction. But when blizzard says they can (with certain restrictions) keep the gear and xp they've accumulated - which they put the time in to get! - all of a sudden its the end of the world... of warcraft?
If you don't like the feature, you don't have to use it, but crying about how its not fair to make other peoples lives easier is just sad. The only people who could be negatively affected by this are those people who suck so badly, that an increase in the population of 'geared' players in their faction will make it even harder for them to get a group. And for those people, the problem isn't realy with WoW.
Its as if you took a couple of little kids to the doctor and one didn't like the lollypops on offer so refused theirs and demanded that the other didn't get one either.
Feb 25th 2009 4:07AM I just checked the talent tree on the PTR after reading your comment.
The wording for 1h weapon specialisation hasn't changed, it still says 'all damage you deal'
Also, BoS still reduces damage taken by 3% it just doesn't regen rage or runic power
Attached section of screenshot current as of 9:00 GMT 25-02-09
Just wish my 80 would hurry up and copy so i could fill out the talents (would be nice to know if 2/2 GbtL gave 6% damage reduction and 100% chance to refresh DP)
Feb 24th 2009 6:03PM Untill Activision realise they can sell them for real cash...
Feb 23rd 2009 7:10PM The Infinite flight didn't try to stop the plagued grain from reaching the populace of Stratholme, they are already showing signs of illness when we arrive. They simply tried to stop Arthas discovering the corruption before the entire city turned undead. My guess is if they had succeeded, the city would have burst like a boil spilling a wave Scourge over the surrounding villages, possibly catching Arthas and his men off guard, who knows what would have happened then?
Feb 8th 2009 7:14AM If they do add a drop-down box for the tabard design, they could do it two ways, either you have to buy a blank 'guild tabard' that would show the design as V Magius suggested, or they could remove the tabard inventory slot alltogether and replace it with a trouser slot, which would work like the shirt slot but for your legs.
Gief a change of underwear! My paladin has been wearing the same ratty boxer shorts for three years. Not the kind of Holey I had in mind for him.
Feb 6th 2009 3:51AM Appart from the fact that not many Holy Paladins will put 48 points in the prot tree.
These changes seem pretty awesome, but a 3 second silence on a 6 second cooldown, as well as a potential 6 second stun on a 10 second cooldown would have pvpers screaming for nerfs, hopefully they can impliment this in a way thats satisfactory to PVE and PVP camps.
Otherwise i'd rather not have it, than get it and have it hotfixed away a few days later.
The divine plea change seems pretty sweet too, but i'll have to remember to click it off when i need to heal while soloing old content (IE Geddon)
Dec 5th 2008 10:59PM If you're worried about the client telling blizzard you where on a private realm earlier when you log on live, you can easily just make a copy of the whole WoW directory and only use that for the private realms. That has the other advantage when a patch is released on live you can run 2 versions until the private realm catches up.
As to whether its worth going on a private realm in the first place. I spent a bit of time on and I can't imagine why anyone would go from retail to private, other than a bit of a mess around.
There seem to be 2 main types of private server, those with gear vendors where you can just buy any gear you want, and there are 'Blizz Like' Servers which are full of whiners declaring the server to be 'crap' for not having vendors (always funny to tell them the mall is in AQ and they have to run there)
The 'I play here because i can't afford a retail sub' sense of entitlement is pretty strong, but for so many its not enough to play for free, they want to be dinged max level and given free gear too.
There are some good people on private realms, (I have a friend who plays one that just has Org, SW, AB and arenas) but they always seem to be outnumbered by whiners, exploiters, people who spout the most offensive crap they can think of, insecure GM's with god complexes, and social inadequate who 'donate' $50-$100 to the realm to get full T6 and a set of warglaives just so they can run straight to a starter area and pwn level 1's
I can see Blizzard's point of view when they go after these servers, but really, they're not a serious source of competition, and may even drive some people to retail, and by going after 'the little guy' Blizz become 'the man' or whatever you want to call it. Some people are going to run these servers and play on them just to spite them, its human nature and they'll never stop it all together. They'll rattle their cage to remind people who's boss, then things will quiet down I reckon.
