Apr 11th 2009 6:43PM Lol. You realise that Australia has something like 0.03% of the worlds population, right? We're nobodies to the rest of the world. Most people don't even know our country exists. Stop thinking we could ever be equal in status with "Europe". We won't ever get our own servers, deal with it.
Apr 1st 2009 7:57PM I think Blizzard are 100% right to not allow people to profit off of their game. I just wish Blizzard would take the better addon ideas and functions and just develop in-house versions. Raiders shouldn't need to go outside of Blizzard to be able to see threat, damage, proper raid frames etc.
Apr 1st 2009 1:22AM 25 mans are inherently more difficult than 10 mans even if the tuning is identical. My partner is an officer, master looter and raid leader, and the work that goes into running a 25 man raid is far more intense than anything a 10 man can dish up.
Maybe most people that just turn up to raids without a second thought of what goes into running those raids week in, week out don't realise what goes on behind the scenes, but organising 25 people is logistically always going to be more difficult than 10 people.
Mar 31st 2009 4:02AM The little totem is hand carved wood. I can totally understand why this is $60. The detail is pretty cool. If you don't want to spend $60, then don't, but the crafter definitely deserves that much for her work.
Mar 26th 2009 5:08PM There are apparently valid technical reasons why they can't fix it. Because of how robes look on different races it is apparently too difficult to code it without excessive clipping. They've tested it, and it just looks better to 'tuck it in'.
Mar 26th 2009 4:52PM The Oceanic servers themselves are even located in the US. They're completely US in every way other than server time being Sydney time, and having a mostly Australian-New Zealand-Singapore-Malaysia-Phillipines playerbase. There are no transfer restrictions between the North America realms and Oceanic realms on the US game.
Mar 26th 2009 1:20AM And to everyone who thinks the GMs don't care: they DO. People's names are changed all the time - they come to the Customer Service GMs to whine about it all the time.
If any GM has actually told you they 'don't care about the naming policy' then you really should report that GM to their supervisors.
Mar 26th 2009 1:18AM I spend a lot of time on the Customer Service Forum and feel the need to clear up some misperceptions :)
Firstly, most of the rules in the Naming Policy are only enforced on RP realms. Rules like not having sentences in your names, or non-medieval sounding names only apply on RP realms.
Even then, GMs don't proactively monitor names. The naming policy is enforced reactively, ie if you think a name should be changed, YOU have to report it. Even then, it's up to the GM department if it's worthy of being changed.
If it isn't changed and you really think it should be, feel free to repetition, or email the GM's supervisors to let them know you think your GM's actions weren't satisfactory. Also, the first thing that gets done to someone who is deemed to have an offending name, is that they are offered a name change of their own choice. Some people think they'll be clever and just name it to the same thing. The GMs don't watch this, so it IS worthy of re-reporting if you think the name wasn't changed by the GM after you reported it. Following this, the offending player will have a name chosen for them by the GM.
Names that are racist or can be considered offensive are the kinds of names that are policed on non-RP realms.
Trademark violations that slip through the filter are generally only enforceable if the trademark owner themselves complain, so it's pointless making a petition because you saw someone run past called Cocacola. Unless of course, you're the CEO of Coca Cola ;)
Lastly, special characters are fine. They've been allowable ever since the shift-click function was introduced into the game in late 2007.
Mar 24th 2009 1:34AM It's a common misperception that Trade can only be used for Trade. Blizzard GMs on the Customer Service Forum have confirmed many times over that that is the channel's suggested use only. Idle chatter is perfectly acceptable and within the rules. Harassment, racism, spam and offensive comments are reportable in Trade like they are anywhere, but talk about whatever you want in the channel without fear of reprisal. :)
Also, anyone who thinks Blizzard should monitor chat proactively (instead of reactively as they do now through player's petitions) hasn't thought of the logistics. They'd need to employ an entire city's worth of people just to read chat all day... why bother when they have players to do that for them :)
Mar 19th 2009 11:17PM I felt ripped off when I learned the US Mountain Dew is caffeinated. Ours (Australian) is caffeine free. The only caffeinated soft drinks in Australia are cola drinks and guarana energy drinks. You can't get caffeinated Mountain Dew or lemonades or anything. Not fair! Such a backwards country and I'm not ashamed to say it. le sigh.
