May 14th 2010 6:31PM I'd love this too, and it's (from a Horde perspective) entirely in keeping with Blizzard's storytelling philosophy, from Wrathgate right back through the Starcraft and Warcraft franchises: At some point, you're going up against your own.
(Which also means that there's an arrow with Varian's name on it ...)
May 6th 2010 10:18AM Another disagreement -- if undercutting by 30 percent helps you make the sale at a profit, do it.
Casual AH players don't have time to do the undercut-by-a-silver dance, because that's what it becomes: A dance, in which you and the competition keep shaving a few pennies off the price, then relist the stuff when the auctions expire
That'll work for some people, but I don't want to keep checking the AH to see whether it's time to drop my prices by another 1 percent. I just want the stuff to sell in one posting and make a profit.
I typically undercut enough to be noticeable and make the buyer feel like it's an unusually good deal -- better click 'buyout' now, or it'll be gone. If there's obviously a price war already on or if undercutting will reduce my profit more than I want, I stay out altogether for a day or so, then check back.
I don't use any addons, by the way. I'm sure they're great, but you don't really need 'em.
Mar 26th 2010 12:15PM Minnesota's going to be in the 50s tomorrow. Anybody who calls themselves a Minnesotan should be in their swimming trunks.
Mar 11th 2010 2:09PM You can apply Chimera shot whenever it's up -- and you should and will do so before the serpent sting expires. But it doesn't matter when you do it; it applies the damage based upon the ENTIRE run of Serpent Sting, even if you do it right away. OutDPS and Diaries of a Marksman Hunter have done good writeups on this.
So Serpent Sting --> Chimera ---> other shots ---> Chimera (before serpent sting expires).
Two things I'd note:
• Silencing Shot DOES matter in heroics as an interrupt -- stopping a Heal or Fear can be a big deal. Don't blow it right away.
• The concussive shots don't help DPS, but if you don't have dual specs (and you PVP at ALL) they can really help your survival.
Mar 4th 2010 6:31PM Thanks for this; very helpful
Regarding the Tier-10 set — Toravon drops a couple level 264 pieces (legs and hands, I think) in VoA 25, so if you're lucky you can save some emblems and still get the 2-piece bonus.
Feb 15th 2010 3:04PM Amen. Saying "tips are welcome" and then having any reaction to a tip (or the lack of one) besides "thanks and good day" is simply bad manners. You've decided to leave it up to the customer how much you should be compensated. You're obliged to abide by their decision.
Tipping, in general, is a dicey proposition that's prone to problems from the get-go, unless there's an established community standard for the process -- and in WoW, there's not. The columnist advises to tip a daily's worth, but I've never heard that one before. I've seen plenty of 1g, 2g tips; I've heard of tipping 10g or 50g or 200g -- it's all over the place, and to expect the buyer to figuring out the proper tip based on the server economy, AH trends and rarity of the enchantment is unfair. Again, bad manners. (Contrast that with food service -- the 15 percent rule is something that's been ingrained in U.S. diners for years, so both the customer and the server have a reasonable idea of what's expected).
For the record, I don't get involved with enchanters for this reason. I have no interest in pissing anybody off or getting into awkward conversations over tip value with somebody who's too passive-aggressive to tell me up front what they want. So I buy scrolls and level my own alts. It's a waste of time and money -- and it'd be a lot easier if we all dumped the idea of "tipping" and started setting prices the honest way.
Feb 15th 2010 2:32PM There's another "I love the whole WOW" video I keep going back to -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fawCKWCKHC8 -- that's also worth a listen. The song is cuter in a lot of ways, though it doesn't have anywhere near the technical chops this one does. And it's really hard to top the Thrallpunch and the Turkey thing. This was good to see.
