...A... er... thing... not sure... I think a sock is involved

The Seven takes down Kil'jaeden in China {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2008 5:13PM If the gates were open for a while yet they are only beating him now it sounds like they are riding on the EU/US strategies that are now online (not that it's not still an achievement).

New tier gear video {WoW}

May 26th 2008 11:51PM Really?

I'm not naive. I'm sure Blizz can enact petty penalties, directives to CM's, continued non-invites/access to all things WoW.

But through a probable calculated risk of "we don't get much official content love anyway" versus "most our readers *really* want this", they've happened to stumble across something resembling journalistic integrity and a bit of bottle; in stark contrast to some other posters of content not a million posts away from me right now.

And Legal action? Well we'll hear about that soon enough I'm sure if it happens; forgive me if I don't hold my breath.

New tier gear video {WoW}

May 26th 2008 5:16AM Oh noes Blizzard will stop giving them exclusive interviews and content (probably choosing 1up, Gamespot etc in the future over them!!).

They'll be forced to just collect together information from disparate sources, mix in editorial columns and player feedback presented in one fairly easy to follow blog.

Seriously what's Blizz gonna do ignore them harder? Say well... we were gonna give you stuff honest - but now we definitely won't? How about you leave the amateur dramatics to the forums. They've chosen their line of plausible denialbility and it's probably a better journalistic choice than yours in the long run.

May 21st 2008 5:53PM What, nobody has done the appropriate Penny Arcade Strip?

(read the news post behind the strip if you don't get it)

Kael'thas in two places at once {WoW}

Mar 27th 2008 9:49PM I've no issue with him being in two places at once. However unlike Onyixa etc... most fresh 70's, alts or those not yet in tempest keep will see this content out of chronological order (i.e. they will face the broken Kael before the unbroken - if indeed they even get that far).

Not game breaking, but a little annoying

Extended maintenance [Updated] {WoW}

Mar 25th 2008 6:01AM Confirmed; it's now on the EU Servers login screen that Servers will be down for extended maintenance this Wednesday to apply 2.4 (EU's patch day is Wednesday not Tuesday).

Happy birthday then...

The obvious report: Wrath will not require Vista {WoW}

Mar 12th 2008 5:46PM And by increase I of course mean the increased speed in load times and decreased time ;)

The obvious report: Wrath will not require Vista {WoW}

Mar 12th 2008 5:44PM Vista got a bad rap when it came out due to driver issues; these have been largely resolved (see link below);

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/amd_nvidia_windows_vista_driver_performance_update/page3.asp

With minimal drops in performance for an OS that is doing more under the hood (desktop search etc...). I think if you actually go back to when XP, 2000 and other OS's were released you'd realise this is actually a pretty stable and performant OS (the benchmarks for games on XP never got close to the old 9x numbers).

If you are using Vista I would advise using a USB stick and enabling it as a "Super Fetch" drive the increase in load times (after an initial load) are really noticable especially with games.
