Drama Mamas: The etiquette of AFKing in a group or raid {WoW}

Jan 10th 2012 1:05AM I've been doing a lot of LFD on my laptop while I look after my grandfather (he's in home hospice care) and I've found groups are very understanding. Two things that I've found helpful: 1) Even though I usually tank or heal, I only queue as DPS when I know I might be interrupted. That way I'm less likely to be missed if I have to duck out. 2) I have a macro that I use at the beginning of every instance to explain that I'm taking care of my grandfather and I apologize in advance if I have to go afk or drop group unexpectedly. Not only does this mean people have an idea of why I've suddenly afked, it generally means that I don't get assigned to interrupts during boss fights.

Jan 7th 2012 1:02PM Q4tQ: Is there a setting that would let me hear music, npc voices, etc, but wouldn't play battle sounds/spells/etc? I've been playing with the sound off since launch because I don't like listening to fights, but I keep feeling like I'm missing out on all the music and voice acting.

Jan 5th 2012 11:26AM @puntable: No, you just have your thumb on the trackball and your other four fingers are available for extra buttons. I've got a five button trackball that I use now, I'm just pining for the 8-12 buttons that gaming mice seem to have these days.

Jan 5th 2012 11:05AM Q4tQ: Why are there no gaming trackballs? Trackballs are so much better than mice that need a flat surface to move around on, but I've never found one with all the handy extra buttons of a gaming mouse.

The Queue: Clearly, the correct answer is Tommy, the green Ranger {WoW}

Jan 3rd 2012 3:13PM Q for the Q: Does spirit on an item still make it automatically "healer gear"? I'm a caster DPS (elemental shaman) and it seems to me like it's hard to find caster gear that doesn't have spirit on it these days. But if I roll on spirit gear, the healer gets angry. Am I being a noob ninja about this, or are they stuck in pre-cata stat mindsets?
