Nov 6th 2009 9:24AM I disagree, but not vehemently. While a ferocity pet is very handy for a leveling hunter, I think tenacity pets give the largest margin for error while learning the class. Having a pet with an aoe threat ability is invaluable when you get jumped by a couple mobs, as happens quite a bit. Hunters don't really have the luxury of having more than two pets while they level, or they risk having all but one pet perpetually 5 levels behind. In that case, I think a tenacity pet, especially a bear, can be a great choice. Swipe by itself can pull three aggroed mobs off you while you retreat to a safe distance. Once you can talent thunderstomp and learn misdirection, you always have easy ways of dumping aggro onto your pet. That being said, at end game, I have 3 ferocity pets and only one tenacity pet (one spot being saved for another spirit beast)
Here's my misdirect macro. When I'm in a group, I set my focus to the tank, otherwise, it casts onto my pet.
/cast [target=focus,exists, target=pet] misdirection
Nov 4th 2009 10:32AM I did the entire linken quest chain on my pally just to have a second way of pulling mobs from range... then they gave us hand of reckoning in the next patch. Ah well, it sits in my trinket bag in the bank now, waiting :)
Nov 4th 2009 8:23AM I've always thought that Loch Modan was a great zone. I really enjoy leveling there. The rolling hills in the east make for some unexpected encounters and it was the first time I ran into the dark iron dwarves. The quests around the dam, and in the ogre encampment are still some of my favorites. I'll drop almost anything to go back for a guildie doing the Chok'Sul quest. Death may be for lowbies, but payback lasts well into endgame ;) Seeing as the dam is a stones throw from Deathwing's new home, I'm sure it's already gone on some developer's hard drive. I'll miss the pastorial atmosphere there, and will need a new go-to zone when I want to make fishing lures.
Oct 23rd 2009 9:00AM Engineering is my favorite profession. I love mining with my gyrocopter, unmounting from a ridiculous height, parachuting down to a node, then blasting the nearest mob with my gnomish lightning generator! It's made entirely out of metal... LOL
Oct 21st 2009 2:51PM I get whispered every couple days by a gold seller or leveling service. After months of /ignoring them, I've taken to whispering back. It's really the only time I curse in game, but I've found that if I'm fast (/macro?) I can get off 3 or 4 really wretched lines before they logout. I like to imagine the goldsellers getting retro-spammed by all their intended victims every time they /t
Feb 26th 2009 10:17AM I really liked getting the classic dungeon master achievement. Thank you nameless rogue who corpse camped me in Org!
Feb 13th 2009 11:24AM When I'm healing, I don't mind Warlocks using life tap, even if they use it at what seem like strange times. It can be a little disconcerting when we're in a groove, and I'm just HOTing the tank, with a flash heal every now and then.... and the bottom drops out on the lock....
I've put a guardian on more than one lock I thought was about to buy it, just to realize they now have a fat mana bar again :)
Feb 11th 2009 7:10PM A hunter, a priest, and a pally go into a bar
When the check comes, The hunter pretends he forgot his wallet, the priest has taken a vow of poverty, so the pally has to take out the trash to pay for their drinks
Tank gets beat up, Healer gets blamed, and DPS takes all the glory
I have characters for all three roles in WoW, so I hear all the demands coming from each direction. Get your DPS up! Healz ME! Keep Aggro! Most people I play with just want to get past the next boss of get the next gear upgrade, if no one dies, all the better. Just try to be friendly to your DPS/TANK/HEAL :)
Dec 30th 2008 10:42AM I rolled a DK a day or two after getting the expansion. He sat for some time while I explored the Northrend starting areas with my other chars. When the overcrowding became too much for me, I turned back to the DK. I have dps and healing characters, but no real tank, so the idea of a DK was very appealing. Somehow, though, I can't really get that character rolling. I find that I click on my 30 something paladin everytime I'm at the character selection screen. Perhaps I just like Consecrate better than Desecrate...
Dec 23rd 2008 8:56AM I solo a lot of instances, it's my principal way of making money in the game. I just got the classic dungeonmaster achievement last night and soloed every instance. I have a 70+ priest and hunter, so soloing instances is sometimes the only way I get to see what they look like on the inside. I like grouping up for instances, but soloing or running a lower level friend through an instance can be a lot of fun, too. My biggest problem is that I've been tagged as a runner who doesn't charge on my server, so I get a half dozen /tell everytime I log in with my hunter. I'm never going to get that mechano-hog running teens through dead mines...
